Mohd Kamarul Hisyam Syafiee pleaded guilty before Magistrate Ling Hui Chuan to a charge voluntarily causing hurt, framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code read together with Section 326A of the same Code. The Section provides for a jail term of up to one year or a fine not exceeding RM2,000, or both, upon conviction. He committed the offence against his 32-year-old wife at a house in Kampung Pasar Pandak here at around 8.30pm on Oct 10, 2023. Based on the facts of the case, the victim was at her in-laws' house when she and Mohd Kamarul argued after he accused her of being unfaithful. During the argument, Mohd Kamarul assaulted her with his hands, leaving her with bruises on her right arm, lower back, and wrist. Following the incident, the accused was tested positive for amphetamine and benzodiazepine. Meanwhile, in a separate Magistrates' Court, Mohd Kamarul was sentenced to 18 months in jail after he pleaded guilty to retaining four stolen televisions. He made the plea before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan, who convicted him under Section 411 of the Penal Code read together with Section 34 of the same Code. Based on the facts of the case, a representative of an electrical installation company lodged a police report on June 30, 2025 after discovering that the company's factory located at Jalan Setia Raja here had been broken into. Several items were reported stolen, including televisions, speakers, a water jet, and other equipment. Mohd Kamarul was arrested on July 5 after the four stolen televisions were found kept in his house.
