Immigration officer claims trial to robbing Pakistani national

KUALA PILAH: An immigration officer pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate's Court today to robbing a Pakistani national of cash, a mobile phone, and other valuables in Rembau. Mohd Nazrul Md Yassin, 38, entered the plea after the charge was read before Magistrate Yusna Khadijah Md Yusop. He is accused of robbing the victim of a mobile phone, a passport, RM440 in cash, and an e-wallet balance of RM210. The alleged robbery took place at 6.10pm on July 11 in Kampung Miku Pindah. The charge, under Section 392 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum prison sentence of 14 years, with the possibility of a fine or caning upon conviction. The court denied bail and set Aug 14 for mention at the Kuala Pilah Sessions Court. Deputy Public Prosecutor Goh Hsiao Tung appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was unrepresented.
