KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 — A 57-year-old man who was involved in a crash on Jalan Ampang after losing control of his car and veering into oncoming traffic is believed to have experienced a heart attack The man was driving his Toyota Caldina on Saturday around 11am when the accident occurred near a traffic light junction in front of a private hospital. Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said three vehicles were involved in the incident, the New Straits Times reported. The Caldina collided head-on with an SUV driven by a 49-year-old woman, causing her car to move backwards and hit another SUV driven by a 30-year-old man. A video of the crash has gone viral on social media. Mohd Zamzuri said the man was in stable condition when he met with police. Only the woman sustained minor injuries, and police are investigating the case under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.

KUALA LUMPUR: The first day of a two-day dry-run for road closures and diversions, held in conjunction with the Asean Summit, proceeded smoothly on Wednesday (May 21). As early as 7am, officers and personnel from the KL Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) were on hand to safeguard the routes from Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) to Istana Negara. KL JSPT chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said traffic on major highways remained smooth this morning. "For the first day, the road closures started at 7am and only involved routes from KLCC to Istana Negara. "The closures were conducted for a short time, about 10 minutes. "The roads were closed and reopened again in stages," he said when contacted today. ACP Mohd Zamzuri said the second day of the dry run on Thursday (May 22) will involve routes from hotels (where Asean leaders and delegates are staying) to KLCC. "The routes will be closed for 30 minutes until the movement is completed. "We hope for the public's cooperation in ensuring the smoothness of traffic in conjunction with the Asean Summit," he said.

PETALING JAYA: The driver of a Nissan Navara pickup truck suspected to be involved in a hit-and-run case before Duta toll plaza, on the North-South Highway (Plus) near here, yesterday, has been detained by the police. Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement department (JSPT) chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the suspect, a 32-year-old local man, has been remanded for two days. 'The motorcyclist, a 53-year-old local man, suffered a fractured collarbone and injuries to his ankle while his wife, aged 49, sustained more serious injuries. 'The woman suffered a broken ankle and right rib as well as bleeding in the brain due to the collision,' he said in a statement today. Investigations revealed that the accident occurred at 2.30pm involving the pickup truck and the victims' motorcycle. Upon arriving at the scene of the accident, the suspect tried to overtake another motorcycle but failed to avoid the victims' motorcycle and hit the right side of the motorcycle. 'The first police report was received on the same day at 6.55pm, made by the pickup truck driver involved. 'Following the investigation, a remand application was made and the suspect is now being detained for two days at the Dang Wangi lockup to assist with investigations. 'The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving,' he added. Mohd Zamzuri said both victims were admitted at the Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment. Earlier, a one-minute video clip went viral on social media showing a pickup truck fleeing the accident scene after hitting a motorcycle ridden by the husband and wife.
