BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Bakersfield police came to a home in the 3300 block of Margalo Court 8:35 p.m. Tuesday night for reports of someone violating a restraining order. Officers say they made contact with the suspect identified as 26-year-old Marion Delouth III, in front of the home, but he fled into the backyard and released a large pitbull from its kennel. Delouth was arrested and booked on charges of assaulting an officer. No one else was hurt. 4 people hospitalized after truck collides with school bus near Shafter Sergeant Eric Celedon with Bakersfield Police Department released a statement to 17 News saying, 'For clarification, discharging a firearm by an officer at a dog is not considered an 'officer-involved-shooting', as defined by law.' 17 News went to the home to speak with the dog owner who was still in tears from the incident. She told 17 News his name is Mojo, a three-year-old American Bulldog she got for her boys while they were still playing football. The boys moved out, and Mojo became her baby. The dog owners have demanded answers from police to know why a taser or mace wasn't used instead of a gun. Mojo's owners declined to go on camera because they said it won't change anything. At last report, Mojo was transported to a veterinarian hospital where he's undergoing treatment for his injuries. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. WATCH: From 'Semi-Soet' to 'Semi-Soeter': get ready for the sequel to SA's beloved romcom
Anel Alexander and Nico Panagio fairy tale faces new trials as work pressures mount and personal dreams clash, forcing them to rethink what forever really means. Image: Supplied. Who would've thought that the same year we were all bracing for the world to end in 2012, South African romcom fans were falling head over heels for "Semi-Soet" ? Directed by Joshua Rous and packed with charm, the Afrikaans-language favourite starred Anel Alexander and Nico Panagio and it quickly carved out a soft spot in the hearts of local audiences. The plot followed career-driven Jaci van Jaarsveld (played by James Alexander), an advertising exec desperate to save her boutique firm, Mojo, from being swallowed up by ruthless corporate shark JP Basson aka 'The Jackal,' brought to life with effortless swagger by Panagio. When a big deal with a family-run wine estate hinges on her appearing in a wholesome relationship, Jaci ropes in a fake fiancé. The shocker? That charming faker turns out to be none other than Basson himself. Video Player is loading. Sparks fly, secrets unravel and viewers were treated to a feel-good story that balanced humour, romance and a touch of local flavour, all against a backdrop of the gorgeous Cape Winelands. According to Anel, who also produced the film, the team wanted to raise the bar. 'We wanted to create something that would set a new standard for Afrikaans romantic comedies - something more polished, more heartfelt,' she told "Rant and Rave Reviews" in 2012. Her husband and co-producer, James Alexander, also added: 'We didn't want slapstick. We wanted something smart, something that could stand next to international rom-coms and hold its own.' Clearly, the effort paid off. The film scored a SAFTA nomination for Best Actor (Panagio) in 2013, and years later, Netflix added "Semi-Soet" to its global catalogue in 2022 giving international audiences a taste of our local magic. Its warm, relatable characters and proudly South African flair made it an instant hit with a whole new audience. Now, over a decade later, the team is back for round two with the aptly named sequel "Semi-Soeter" a title that translates loosely to 'even sweeter,' though judging by the trailer, it's not all smooth sailing. Scheduled to premiere on June 20, the new film explores the tangled world of big deals, messy friendships and matters of the heart. Fan favourite Diaan Lawrenson returns as the loveably scatterbrained Chadrie, and she's not coming alone. Louw Venter and Sandra Vaughn are back as her loyal business partners, offering laughs and life advice in equal measure. And if you thought things couldn't get juicier, screen veteran Hélène Truter joins the cast as Marietjie, the brutally honest matriarch whose revelations threaten to shake things up even more. The first film was praised for its sharp dialogue and beautiful setting not to mention the electric chemistry between Alexander and Panagio. Watch trailer for "Semi-Soeter" below.

Government warns Google Chrome users on Windows and Mac of severe security risks
CERT-in — The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team — under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has issued a high-severity security alert for users of Google Chrome on computer platforms. This includes Chrome users on Windows, macOS and Linux systems. The advisory warns that certain security flaws in older versions of the browser could allow attackers to remotely take control of a user's computer. One of these vulnerabilities is already being exploited by attackers in the wild, which makes this a serious and time-sensitive threat. If you use Chrome on your laptop or PC, you are strongly advised to update it immediately to avoid falling victim to these potential to CERT-In, the affected Chrome versions are those prior to 136.0.7103.113 on Linux, and prior to 136.0.7103.113 or 136.0.7103.114 on Windows and Mac. These older builds contain flaws linked to two key components in the browser — one is called the Loader, and the other is Mojo, which is used for inter-process communication in Chromium-based browsers. The agency explained that the vulnerabilities arise due to insufficient policy enforcement in the Loader, and improper handling in Mojo. These gaps can be exploited by attackers to execute arbitrary code on a device, essentially giving them access to everything on your makes this even more concerning is that one of the vulnerabilities, labelled CVE-2025-4664, is already being actively used by cybercriminals. This means attackers are not just preparing to use it — they already are. This flaw can be triggered simply by luring users to visit a malicious website or clicking on a dangerous link. Once exploited, it can allow the attacker to take control of the device, inject malware, steal sensitive information, or crash the system prevent this from happening, CERT-In has recommended that all users and organisations running Google Chrome on desktops should upgrade to the latest version without delay. Google has confirmed that the issues have been patched in versions 136.0.7103.113 and 136.0.7103.114, and that the updated builds are being rolled out via the Stable channel. These updates will become available to all users over the coming days or don't need to download anything manually — Chrome has a built-in update mechanism. Simply open Google Chrome on your desktop, click on the three-dot icon in the top-right corner, go to Help and then click About Google Chrome. Your browser will automatically start checking for updates and install them if available. After the update is installed, restart the browser to complete the process.

Phil Collins poses with footballer son in rare photo and makes sweet gesture
Phil Collins travelled to Austria to watch his son Matthew's play-off match but it wasn't to be for the 20-year-old after Hartberg shattered his promotion dreams Music legend Phil Collins was there to support son Matthew in his big game this weekend as they posed for a rare photo together in the stands. The musician, whose hits include 80s anthem In The Air Tonight, has two children, Nicholas and Matthew who he shares with Orianne Cevey, as well as daughters Joely and Lily, and son Simon, 48. Phil and Orianne met in the 90s when she was working as his translator in Switzerland, and they eventually tied the knot in 1999, but divorced nine years later in 2008. Matthew plays for Austrian football club WSG Tirol, and Phil travelled over to see him in action. They may have lost their play-off match to Hartberg 3-2 on Saturday, but the family stuck around to show their support after the match. Coach Manuel Ludwiger said he had no idea his player was related to Phil when they signed him. '"We Google the players we take on trial to find out about their past careers, it was only then that we found out Matthew is Phil Collins' son. We haven't signed him as a publicity stunt. It is purely down to his footballing ability." Phil spoke about son's passion for football and knew he had a shot at turning pro from an early age. "Matt loves music, but loves his football even more," he said. "He is certain he'll turn professional. 'The other day he said, "Another five years and I'll be gone". Genesis star Phil earlier this year opened up about being so ill that he's completely lost interest in making music. The 74-year-old drummer, singer, and songwriter - who retired in 2022 after he experienced worsening physical limitations as a result of a 2007 spinal injury - made the admission as he gave a poignant update on his health battles, after also being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2017. He told Mojo magazine: 'I keep thinking I should go downstairs to the studio and see what happens. But I'm not hungry for it anymore.' Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Phil added: 'The thing is, I've been sick, I mean very sick.' The musician first opened up about about his spinal problems in 2009, saying: 'My vertebrae have been crushing my spinal cord because of the position I drum in. It comes from years of playing.' Phil added: 'I can't even hold the sticks properly without it being painful. I even used to tape the sticks to my hands to get through. Don't worry, I can still sing.' Phil looked back at his life and music in his documentary, Phil Collins: Drummer First, which came out late last year after two years of filming. In the moving film, the star focused on his drumming career rather than his vocal fame. Some emotional scenes also show the multi-talented musician coming to terms with the fact that drumming was a skill lost to him, and that he'd never perform live again. "It's still kind of sinking in a little bit. You know, I'm 71. I've spent all my life playing drums. To suddenly not be able to do that is a shock," Phil said as he sat at his drum kit and held his sticks. He also shared: "If I wake up one day and I can hold a pair of drumsticks, then I will have a crack at it. I just feel like I've used up my air miles," and admitted: "To be suddenly not be able to do that is a shock. If I can't do what I did as well as I did it, I'd rather relax and not do anything." Explaining just how mentally debilitating his physical deterioration was to him, he also added: "I'm not a singer who plays the drums. I'm more of a drummer who sings a bit."

Justin Hayward doesn't expect Moody Blues comeback
Justin Hayward doubts that the Moody Blues will return. The 'Nights in White Satin' group have been inactive since 2018 and Justin admits that it is difficult to see the band returning following the passing of drummer Graeme Edge – the last surviving original member – in 2021. Speaking to Mojo magazine, the 78-year-old singer said: "There's only me and Lodgy (bassist John Lodge) left. "When Graeme died, it really affected me. He loved the group so much. Me and John, we always had things outside of the band, but Graeme devoted his whole life to it. And I just think some of that particular magic is gone. "I don't want to be in a tribute band – actually, that's not fair – I'm just saying that when Graeme passed the enthusiasm for it changed. And I'm really liking what I do now." Justin has been in the music business for 60 years but feels fortunate never to have felt the "pressure" of being a celebrity. He said: "The one thing with the Moodies was, people knew the music, but we were never celebrities. We were a bit snooty about letting the music do the talking, so there was never star pressure. "I did have my time when I would get recognised, particularly around when 'Forever Autumn' was a hit, but that passes." Hayward and Lodge enjoyed the hit 'Blue Guitar' away from the Moody Blues and the musician joked that the colour has followed him throughout his career. He explained: "It's something that a promoter will hang on you. "But I remember right at the beginning, Mike (Pinder, keyboardist) was hung up with a record called 'Mood Indigo'. And so there was always that aura around us, of blue, that stuck. "My life is colour coded, though – certain things on certain days, and I don't think I'm unusual in that. Today is green. What's tomorrow? Orange. "Is there a blue day? Oh, yes... but I'm gonna have to leave it hanging there."
