Online inmate records show Mersereau was released from jail custody on July 30 after posting a combined $41,000 bail. It's unclear if she has entered a plea or retained an attorney to speak on her behalf. "The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office takes all allegations involving the welfare of minors and the integrity of public trust seriously," the post reads. According to an arrest report obtained by the Pensacola News Journal, Mersereau had been the subject of an internal investigation during the 2024-2025 school year after administration at Gulf Breeze High School became aware she had been texting a student and giving them rides in her personal vehicle — which was against school policy. Mersereau's arrest came after the teacher's friend told Gulf Breeze police that Mersereau allegedly admitted to "having sex" with a student, the outlet reported, citing the arrest report. The student claimed to investigators with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office that they did not have a sexual relationship with Mersereau. During a search of Mersereau's home, investigators found purported love notes similar to ones they found in the alleged victim's home, per the report. The student's phone allegedly contained "text messages and group notes shared or exchanged by Molly and (the student) which were of an intimate nature, text messages exhibiting grooming speech from Molly directed toward (the student), photographs of Molly and (the student) on outings outside of the school," and more, the News Journal reported, citing the report. Gulf Breeze High School teacher arrested for alleged romantic relationship with student
Santa Rosa County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 36-year-old Gulf Breeze High School teacher July 29 after she allegedly pursued a romantic relationship with at least one student. Deputies arrested Molly Mersereau on two counts of using a two-way device to commit a felony, one count of criminal solicitation, one count of an authority figure engaging in a romantic relationship with a student and one misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. According to Gulf Breeze High School's website, before Mersereau's profile was seemingly removed, she was listed as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) or vocational (VOC) teacher. In a Facebook post made by Santa Rosa County District Schools in April, she was listed as a Hospitality and Tourism Academy teacher for Gulf Breeze High. Santa Rosa County District Schools provided the following statement to the News Journal: "We are aware of the recent arrest of Molly Mersereau, who is employed by Santa Rosa County District Schools as a teacher. We take this matter very seriously. Immediately upon notification of the arrest, Ms. Mersereau has been placed on administrative leave with a recommendation of unpaid suspension to the board. We will continue to monitor the legal proceedings closely. The safety and well-being of our students remains our highest priority.
