Big Brother star 'bought petrol for Molotov cocktail' before bomb was hurled at man's HEAD outside bar - engulfing him in flames
A former Big Brother contestant drove to a garage to buy petrol for a Molotov cocktail before her friend threw the firebomb at a man's head and set him alight. Simone Reed, 36, and Carl Wild, 34, had become embroiled in a violent row with another reveller during a night out in Redcar, North Yorkshire, on February 15. The pair were just feet away from victim David Brotton when the makeshift weapon was thrown at him outside a bar, instantly setting his head aflame. Their victim can be seen on disturbing CCTV footage jumping backwards and hauling himself to the ground in an attempt to quell the fire. Wild was then seen storming into Peggy Junes Bar in Queen Street, just after 8pm, before hitting out at clubbers, destroying furniture and stealing from the till. Three people were taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries following the altercation, Cleveland Police said in a statement at the time. And now at Teesside Crown Court, glamour model Reed - who appeared on Big Brother in 2017 - tearfully admitted encouraging or assisting arson, the Sun reported. In the aftermath of the incident and following her arrest, Reed - from Eaglescliffe, Teesside - posed with an electronic tag on her ankle for a photo on her social media. Reed, from Eaglescliffe in Teesside, posed with an electronic tag around her ankle for a photograph on her social media following her arrest earlier this year Reed - who has also appeared on TV shows such as The X Factor and On Benefits - has now been granted bail with a home curfew between 7pm and 5am. Wild, from Redcar, admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent and aggravated burglary. Lee Wild, 37, also of Redcar, admitted causing fear of violence. They are now due to be sentenced in October. Daily Mail has contacted Cleveland Police for comment. Big Brother evictee Reed claimed in 2017 she was 'removed' from the crowd at the show's live final, after spitting on her former housemate Andrew Cruickshanks. The reality star took to Twitter to vent her frustration and insisted she 'wasn't bothered' after being told she would not be allowed into the show's wrap party following her actions. Fans rushed to the social media site, now known as X, to slam Simone for her actions - branding her behaviour as 'disgusting'. She had been a late addition to that year's series of Big Brother, as she entered the house along at the end of June. Reed was among four contestants hoping to win a place in the house at the beginning of the series. But she lost out to Tom Barber who was voted in as 'the People's Housemate'. Reed's addition to the show had been controversial, given a past history that saw her serve time in prison for six months after being found guilty of affray back in 2009.

A BIG Brother contestant bought petrol for a Molotov cocktail that was hurled at a reveller's head outside a bar. Simone Reed, 36, drove with pal Carl Wild to a garage after threatening to firebomb a pub following a furious row. 3 3 3 She then watched as Wild, 34, threw the petrol bomb at David Brotton from just a few feet away. It hit him squarely in the head. Video showed the victim thrashing around on the ground, trying to put out flames engulfing his head. Wild was also seen storming into the bar and hitting out at people before smashing up furniture and ransacking the till. Three people were taken to hospital with injuries described as 'serious but not life-threatening'. Glamour model Reed, who also appeared on X Factor, wept in court yesterday as she admitted encouraging or assisting arson. She was given bail with a home curfew between 7pm and 5am. Weeks after the attack she posed for bikini shots wearing the electronic tag used to monitor her. Teesside crown court heard the horror had unfolded in Redcar, North Yorks, in February after two groups of men clashed. One onlooker said: 'It was completely terrifying.' Reed, of Eaglescliffe, Teesside, was in Big Brother in 2017. Her barrister said she did not intend for anyone to be injured. Wild, of Redcar, admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent and aggravated burglary. Lee Wild, 37, also of Redcar, admitted causing fear of violence. All three will be sentenced in October.

Molotov cocktails thrown at local Republican headquarters in Michigan's U.P.
Two Molotov cocktails were aimed at the Dickinson County Republican Committee Headquarters building in Iron Mountain, Michigan, local police say. No significant damage resulted. The Iron Mountain Police Department says it has arrested a 19-year-old man from Iron Mountain, which is in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, near the Michigan-Wisconsin state line. The attempted vandalism was noticed about 3:55 p.m. Saturday at the headquarters building on North Stephenson Avenue, the police report said. The caller told emergency officials that someone could be seen attempting to light a rag on fire that was sticking out of a glass bottle, then throwing the bottle at the building. Security cameras in the area showed an image of someone trying to do just that, the police report said. When the man could not get the rag to light, he threw the bottle at the window, which caused the bottle to shatter. A second broken glass bottle was located in the parking lot. Officers were able to identify the suspect in the security videos and found him at this home. "Upon speaking with the suspect, he admitted to making the bottles in his driveway and he threw the bottle at the building, to send a message against the corruption. The suspect was hoping what he made was flammable and would ignite," the police report said. He was booked into Dickinson County Jail, pending court proceedings, on one charge each of manufacturing explosives, possession of a Molotov cocktail or incendiary device causing property damage, and arson. "The attack was unsuccessful due to incompetence of the suspect and no significant damage was done," the Dickinson County Republican Committee said in its statement on the incident. "The Dickinson County Republican Committee is extremely thankful for the quick action of the Iron Mountain Police Department," local party officials said. "We hope that the suspect is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. We are grateful to God that no one was injured and continue to pray for all involved."

Follow Gavin Lerena this weekend
Leading jockey looks strong on Saturday and Sunday. Gavin Lerena has climbed above his two closest rivals, Richard Fourie and Craig Zackey, in the 2025 jockey championship log – but it's still a close race. That's good news for punters, who can cash in as the top jockeys pull out all stops in the three weeks that remain of the season. Lerena made the right decision in opting to ride at Turffontein on Thursday, instead of at a postponed Kenilworth meeting, where he had a very promising book of rides, including five outright favourites. In the end, Lerena booted home five winners at the Big T, while Fourie got two at an ultimately rain-curtailed Big K. Zackey drew a blank in Joburg but is probably glorying so much in his Durban July triumph to bother too much. This saw Lerena pulling nine wins clear of both his rivals. Lerena has eight engagements at Turffontein on Saturday – all with excellent winning chances. Also keep an eye on Greyville on Sunday Win, Eachway and All To Come bets on all his mounts is not the worst idea under the circumstances. More discerning players will try to narrow down the Lerena splurge. Molotov Cocktail (R3.75 a Win), which Lerena rides for James Crawford in Race 6, is possibly the standout. Prime Venture (R4.50) for Barend Botes in the eighth is another deserving attention. Echoes of War (R4.20) for Fabian Habib in Race 3 and Saigon Suzie (R6.00) for Johan Janse van Vuuren in Race 6 can be added to the list. Lerena also has a number of promising rides at Greyville on Sunday – and a similar feasting strategy is advised for punters. Fourie will probably be cashing in at Fairview on Monday but, at the moment, Lerena is in the box seat coming around the final bend. Betting on the jockey championship itself has been suspended by most bookmakers following this week's developments. Most of them have had Fourie as a short-priced favourite for the title for many months.

Los Angeles-area man pleads not guilty to possessing Molotov cocktail at ICE protest
A 23-year-old man pleaded not guilty on Thursday to possessing a Molotov cocktail during immigration enforcement protests in the city of Paramount last month. Emiliano Garduno Galvez of Paramount faces two federal counts of possession of an unregistered destructive device and civil disorder, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Federal prosecutors allege that Galvez lit and threw a Molotov cocktail over a wall during the June 7 protest, knowing that L.A. County Sheriff's Department deputies were on the other side. No deputies were hit by the Molotov cocktail, according to authorities. A Molotov cocktail is typically a bottle filled with flammable liquid and a wick that is ignited before being thrown. Federal officials stated a crowd had gathered earlier in the day near a staging area for federal agents preparing for an immigration enforcement operation. "When protesting crosses the line into violence, the penalties will be severe," U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli said in an earlier statement when announcing protest-related arrests. "Possessing a Molotov cocktail or another destructive device is punishable by up to 10 years in federal prison." At a previous hearing, Galvez was denied bond after a judge noted a risk of flight and an attempt to obstruct justice, as well as his criminal history. The judge said Galvez's past criminal history includes driving under the influence, obstruction of a police officer, resisting arrest, driving without a license and that he was wanted on a warrant out of state court. The trial for Galvez is set for Aug. 19 in Santa Ana federal court.
