Spanish tourists' on Eddie Lyons Jnr and Ross Monaghan shooting
Eddie Lyons Jnr, 46, and Ross Monaghan, 43, were gunned down at Monaghan's Bar in Fuengirola on Saturday. (Image: Image from Spindrift.) Spanish TV aired the horrific scenes, which shows Monaghan, with blood seeping through his white t-shirt from a chest wound, propping himself up on a table before collapsing. It came seconds after Eddie Lyons Jnr was shot outside the premises. Bar CCTV captured the gunman - who was dressed in black - chasing critically-injured Monaghan before he stumbled and fell to the ground. Two bystanders, thought to be a waitress and another man in black, can be seen running away from the suspect. The gunman later fled on foot before rejoining an accomplice in a car who had driven him to the murder scene. No details about the getaway vehicle have been released. READ NEXT: Footage emerges of Ross Monaghan and Eddie Lyons Jr shooting There is speculation that the shootings are linked to the ongoing gangland feud in central Scotland which has resulted in dozens of incidents, including alleged attempted murders, and more than 40 arrests. Some of the people targeted in the violence are linked to the Daniels crime group - long-time rivals of another serious organised crime group, the Lyons family, of which Eddie Lyons Jnr and Ross Monaghan were members. (Image: Image from Google Maps.) British tourists who'd been in Monaghan's before the shooting described it as a friendly bar. They told BBC News that a group of Scottish men were watching the Champion's League final in the pub before the shooting. They were boisterous but not behaving badly and Eddie Lyons Jnr and Ross Monaghan were with them. David Meddicks from Glasgow had left the bar with his wife a couple of hours before. He said: "We went back to our hotel for food and later on at the reception of the hotel, two wee Spanish women ran in, shouting 'bang, bang, bang, bang.'" "We looked and we could see the police and all the blue lights. We had been thinking of going back down for another drink and decided not to bother. So I'm quite glad I didn't." Meanwhile, an Englishman who been in the pub said: "We were there an hour before and walked back later and found out what happened. "It made us want to go home, to be quite honest. You go away on holiday and you don't expect this. Really frightening." Another tourist, Robert Sorman from Bathgate, said: "You've heard of the Costa Del Crime but you never expect it to happen when you're here." An elite Costa Del Sol-based anti-drug and organised crime unit is heading the investigation, reporting to a local magistrate who is in charge of the inquiry overall. The Spanish police said there has been no official confirmation of the identity of the two victims. Eddie Lyons Jr had previously been shot in 2006, in an incident that was believed to be part of a gang feud. Meanwhile, Monaghan was shot in the back after dropping his child off at a primary school in Glasgow in 2017.

The double slaying of the two top table hoods in a Spain bloodbath has sent shockwaves through gangland circles - and poured rocket-fuel over an already raging gang war. An insider said: 'The murder of Monaghan and Lyons has taken this ongoing madness to a whole new level. 'It's been boiling for weeks and everyone was wondering when there was going to be a fightback for all the attacks in Edinburgh and Glasgow. 'Only a few select people would have known something this brazen and brutal was being planned. 'This is the work of professional underworld hitmen and carried out in front of scores of innocent people. It's raised the stakes in this war beyond belief.' We told how Monaghan and Lyons were boozing in a Monaghan's bar after watching the Champions League final on Saturday night. Local reports suggest Lyons was shot in the chest at close range without having a chance to react and died instantly. It's reported Monagahn ran into the bar in a desperate escape bid and was gunned down as terrified staff and customers hid under tables and chairs. He is understood to have been shot at least four times in the chest and abdomen. Despite attempts by police and paramedics to save his life, he passed away before he could be taken to hospital. The DOWNFALL of Scotland's biggest gangster - Jamie 'The Iceman' Stevenson Part Two The gunman, whose disguise is said to have included a hoodie partially covering his face, fled on foot before rejoining the accomplice who had driven him to the murder scene. Police have retraced part of their escape route to the old N-340 dual carriageway heading towards Benalmadena. Details about the make and colour of the getaway vehicle have not yet been released. Officers from an elite Spanish National Police Costa del Sol-based Anti-Drug and Organised Crime Unit UDYCO are heading the ongoing probe, although they are reporting to a local investigating judge coordinating the operation. The National Police has confirmed two men were killed but declined to name them, saying in the force's only official statement so far:'Around midnight on Saturday an incident with firearms occurred in Fuengirola, specifically at an entertainment venue along the seafront. 'Two males died as a result from gunshot wounds. 'The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made so far.' A British woman answered the phone at the Irish bar, said to be owned by Ross Monaghan, but said she had been told by the police not to make any comment. Spanish police confirmed today they had yet to make any arrests. Career criminal Monaghan, who fled Scotland for Spain after a failed attempt on his life outside a Glasgow primary school in 2017, was tried but acquitted over the murder of notorious Glasgow hood Kevin 'Gerbil' Carroll at an Asda car park in 2010. In August 2017 he and Eddie Lyons Jr, both members of the Lyons Glasgow crime family, were cleared of being involved in a brutal street attack on three men outside the Campsie bar in Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire. The shooting in Spain comes amid a violent gang war that has ripped through Scotland since March said to have started over a fallout over drugs. We told last week how a vicious mob waging a gang war on Scotland's streets have DENIED reports of a truce - and have vowed 'we aren't going away.' It was claimed rival crews from the Lyons and Daniel factions have agreed to halt the violence on orders from Dubai-based mob boss Ross McGill, 31. 3 Former Union Bear turned Dubaui-based mobster Ross 'Miami' McGill. But sinister group Tamo Junto (TMJ) - who claim to be waging war against the Daniel's crime clan and its associates - blew those claims out of the water. And they said they would continue to target the Daniel clan or anyone associated with drugs kingpin Mark Richardson, 38. They said: 'We have terrorised you since March and we will continue to do so. 'Despite false claims in the media, TMJ will continue to target anyone associated with the Daniel family or Mark Richardson." Police Scotland has made more than 40 arrests as part of Operation Portaledge - a huge prove into the going violence. McGill, from East Kilbride, moved abroad in 2022 after skipping court on drug-dealing and gangsterism allegations. He was said to have fled a nightclub in the UAE bolthole after spotting heavies linked to Steven 'Bonzo' Daniel, 45. Speculating on the consequences of the killings, another insider last night said: "Whether it's linked to the ongoing Scottish feud or another dispute with gangsters from some other group, this is bound to lead to further violence."
