Kayden Minear makes Pro Motocross debut in Thunder Valley, qualifies 12th

LAKEWOOD, Colorado: Kayden Minear swept the motos of the SMX Next division last week at Hangtown Motocross Park in Rancho Cordova, California, and with his perfect score of two points, bettered the result of the riders in second, Landen Gibson, and third, Leum Oehlhof, by an even larger margin. That strong run encouraged Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing to give the Australian rider an opportunity to race against the professionals. 'We talked about it for a while, but [last week's results] signified how good I'm riding at the moment and that gave them a little kick in the butt to get me up into the pro ranks,' Minear told NBC Sports during Friday's Media sessions. 'I know [the field is] deep, but I ride with the pros every week. I know what I'm capable of.' Minear will ride this weekend in Thunder Valley and next week at High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania, before switching gear in preparation for the Loretta Lynn's Amateur Nationals. Depending on his results in these rounds, fans may see him on the bike again at the end of the Pro Motocross season. Minear was 19th overall in the first qualification session and improved in Q2 to land 12th overall on the chart. Cooper Webb Joins Short List of Three-Time Supercross Champions

2025 Season Drew Fourth Highest Supercross Attendance SMX League Registers One Billion Plus Minutes Streamed on Peacock for the First Time Ever PALA, Calif., May 23, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The 17-Round Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship and indoor stadium season of the SMX World Championship™ series concluded on Saturday, May 10 at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City. Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing's Cooper Webb won the title and joined a very short list of athletes (seven) to earn three or more premier class championships. At 29, Webb becomes the oldest champion in the sport's history, besting 2-Time Champion Eli Tomac by just one week. Webb finished the season with five wins and thirteen podium appearances. Like the 450SX Class Championship, the Eastern Divisional 250SX Class Championship also came down to the final race of the season – the Dave Coombs Sr. East/West Showdown that featured both 250 divisions racing together. Red Bull KTM's Tom Vialle backed up last year's title run with a second championship over rivals Seth Hammaker and RJ Hampshire. Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing's Haiden Deegan wrapped up the Western Divisional 250SX Class Championship one week earlier in Denver, Colorado. The 2025 Monster Energy Supercross season drew the fourth highest attendance in the sport's modern era. The season started with a sold-out event at the Anaheim Opener at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California on January 11. For the second year in a row Round 7 in Arlington, Texas at AT&T Stadium on February 22 was the most attended event of the season hosting more than 68K fans. Rounds 9 and 11 in Indianapolis, Indiana at Lucas Oil Stadium on March 8 and Seattle, Washington at Lumen Field on March 29 both recorded their second highest attendances ever for their respective markets with Indianapolis pulling an impressive 62K plus and Seattle drawing 58,463. Round 15 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at Acrisure Stadium on April 26 was the shining star of the Northeast run as more than 58K fans attended the first race ever held at the stadium, and first time back in market since 1983. The pre-race festival FanFest also drew a notable 26K plus fans which is 8,000 more people than neighboring PPG Paints Arena would typically host for a sold-out Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL) home game. The season concluded with a near capacity crowd at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City. In total, 828,796 fans attended Supercross and 329,751 showed up early for the pre-race festivities known as FanFest in 2025. From a domestic viewership standpoint, the 2025 season marked several milestones as eight of the ten most-streamed races of all time on Peacock were from this season. Over 80% of races (14 of 17) saw viewership increases compared to last season on Peacock. Additionally, over 1 billion total minutes were streamed on Peacock for the first time ever. Streamed in three different languages (English, Spanish, and French), the international livestream made available through the SuperMotocross Video Pass continues to drive a global viewing audience and makes SuperMotocross one of the most accessible sports around the world. In its third year, global subscriptions to the SMX Video Pass are up 43% and 70% compared to 2024 and 2023 respectively. Compared to 2023, the SMX Video Pass saw a 28% increase in views, an 80% increase in unique viewers, and a 50% increase in minutes watched. In its second year, the Spanish Broadcast has seen year-over-year increases in total views - 85%, unique viewers - 34%, and minutes watched - 89%. Tomorrow, Saturday, May 24, the outdoor Pro Motocross season of the SMX World Championship series gets underway with the Pala Casino Fox Raceway National Presented by Fox Racing in Pala, Calif. The 11-round outdoor season will travel to 10 different states, with visits to Fox Raceway, Hangtown, Thunder Valley Motocross Park, High Point Raceway, The Wick 338, RedBud MX, Spring Creek MX Park, Washougal MX Park, Ironman Raceway, Unadilla MX, and ending at Budds Creek Motocross Park in Budds Creek, Maryland. Once the Pro Motocross season concludes, the combined points between Supercross and Pro Motocross will be tallied and the top 20 athletes in the world will be automatically seeded into the SMX World Championship Playoffs and Final. SMX World Championship Playoff 1 will take place on Saturday, September 6, at zMAX Dragway in Concord, N.C., and Playoff 2 is set for Saturday, September 13, at the Dome At America's Center in St. Louis, Mo., followed by the SMX World Championship Final on Saturday, September 20, at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas. Daxton Bennick suffers a compression fracture of a vertebra in Philadelphia crash

Daxton Bennick suffered a vertebra compression fracture in a Lap 1 crash in the Round 13 East / West Showdown feature at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The crash brought out the fourth red flag of the season and necessitated a complete restart. The timeline for his return to racing has not been announced. 'Happy to be somewhat ok from the crash in Philly,' Bennick posted on social media. "[I] got cross-jumped pretty hard after a bad start in the main, just trying to get through the pack. I [suffered a] compression fracture [of] a vertebra in my back and was knocked out for a short amount of time. Me and the team are gonna start working on a plan to get my recovery going and to come back when I'm ready. I have a great group around me and wanna say thanks to everyone reaching out.' The compression fracture will not require surgery. Bennick entered Philadelphia with back-to-back top-five finishes in Birmingham, Alabama, and Foxborough, Massachusetts. His best finish of the season was a second in the 250 East season-opener in Tampa, Florida. Bennick was eighth in the 250 East standings before the crash, one point behind the injured Max Anstie and four behind Nate Thrasher for sixth in the standings. The injury report from the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team also referenced the concussion he suffered. Blu Cru Official released an injury update on Daxton Bennick: 'In his crash during the Philadelphia Supercross 250 Main Event, Daxton Bennick sustained a concussion. He also injured his back, and has a compression fracture that will not require surgery...' Cooper Webb Wins Wild Arlington Triple Crown

Heading into the final race of the Arlington Triple Crown, the top five riders were separated by just three points after the first two races. It was still anyone's overall to capture, including the two red plates tied in the championship standings. The third race did not disappoint. After Aaron Plessinger surprised the field by snagging the holeshot, it was short-lived as he crashed along the whoops section and did not end up leading the first lap. Chase Sexton found his way to the lead and it appeared to be smooth sailing for him. But on Lap 13, he stalled the bike and relegated himself to third. That along with a frantic effort on the last lap to pass both Ken Roczen and Cooper Webb resulted in another crash for Sexton, dropping him to fifth by the finish. For Webb, it was just another day at the office as he secured his seventh win under the dome of AT&T Stadium and sole control of the championship points. 'A little bit of luck, as we know,' said the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing rider about winning the overall. 'It was great riding the last two main events, but Chase had that incident with me and it gave me that win. I didn't feel like I was the best guy tonight, but I put myself in good positions and made the most of it. 'Statistically, I've had the best success here and it's an awesome feeling.' Webb holds a five-point lead over Sexton and a 19-point gap over Roczen. Even without a main event or overall win yet in the 2025 season, Roczen still holds his head high achieving the goal of still being in the fight for podiums, wins, and hopefully the championship battle as the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship approaches the halfway mark. 'I did the best I could today,' said the Suzuki rider. 'This type of dirt is my least favorite of the year. It was super fun being in that battle, going back and forth. Overall, with everything that went on, I'm just happy to be back on the podium.' Chase Sexton stalled the bike from the lead and then crashed trying to get the lead back on the last lap from the lead in the third Main event, losing the race, the overall and the red plate leaving Arlington. 'There's really not much to say,' said the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider. 'When I get on the plane out of here, leave that in Dallas and kind of try to move forward. I've been grinding pretty hard the last couple of weeks and maybe it's just time for some rest and come into Daytona fresh.' Justin Cooper was the second overall Yamaha rider with his fourth-place showing, including two podiums but losing the Olympic point tie breaker to Sexton. Justin Hill rounded out the top five. Justin Barcia, Plessinger, Dylan Ferrandis, Malcolm Stewart and Joey Savatgy completed the top 10 overall results. Round 8 of the SMX World Championship and the indoor stadium season of Monster Energy AMA Supercross heads back to Florida to Daytona Int'l Speedway. Coverage begins on Saturday, Mar. 1 at 7 p.m. ET on Peacock and SiriusXM Channel 85. Haiden Deegan Sends Message with Dominant Arlington Victory

It's not where you start; it's where you finish. That rang truest for Haiden Deegan in Arlington. In a nearly perfect sweep, the 1-1-2 Triple Crown finishes gave Deegan the overall in AT&T Stadium. However, every start at the gate drop was outside the top five. Deegan proved across all three Main Events that he could climb through the field and either win or be a threat for the victory. 'Just keep working and keep getting better,' said the Temecula, Cali. native racing for Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing. 'It's all I can work on. Here we've got the troops on the tank for Military Appreciation Week. Love the troops. Thank you guys for your support. This one's for you.' Deegan, 19, earned his fourth career 250SX victory in his third season at the class level. Coty Schock continued to display his talent week after week. Quietly moving up the charts each race, he secured his first podium and best career SuperMotocross finish in his 10th year of AMA Pro competition. 'I was a nobody, and now I'm somebody,' celebrated the Dover, Dela. rider. 'Everyone with the team, we're broadcasted as a big team that does a lot with a little. It's a little shop based out of South Carolina. We put in the work, and it's cool to finally put it on the box for these guys.' Schock, 27, also gave his team their first career podium finish across the organization. Muc-Off/FXR/ClubMX Yamaha currently has two riders competing in the 250SX West division with Schock and Jett Reynolds, while four others are listed as 250SX East competitors. 'It's surreal,' he continued. 'My dad flew out for this round, and really wish my mom was here.' The second overall position was tied in the Olympic-style point structure. Schock would earn the higher position after beating Michael Mosiman in the third Main Event. Mosiman, with his 10th career podium, waited nearly three years, dating back to April of 2022 when he podiumed at Denver. 'Man, there's a sense of relief,' said the Sebastopol, Cali. native. 'So much work was put in and so many people that believed in me, even at times when I didn't myself, to get back to this place, back to the podium, have to learn how to spray champagne again. It's hard to put into words. Been in some pretty low places. Now to be here, it's great.' Jo Shimoda captured the first holeshot of the night and finished fourth overall. Garrett Marchbanks gave Kawasaki an overall top five finish. In the first 250SX Main Event, Jordon Smith crashed in the whoops coming to the white flag and did not finish. He was placed on a stretcher and escorted off track in the Alpinestars medical cart, and would not resume the other two races. The 250SX West division will race next in Round 9 of the SMX World Championship and indoor stadium season of Monster Energy AMA Supercross in Indianapolis when they combine with the East division for the first East/West showdown of 2025. Coverage at Lucas Oil Stadium begins at 7 p.m. ET on Peacock and SiriusXM Channel 85.
