Desoto County schools end lockdown after teen arrested in shooting
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The DeSoto County School District placed some schools on lockdown while police were looking for a 16-year-old shooting suspect on Monday.
Montrail Williams Jr, a 16-year-old, is being charged as an adult and has been charged with Aggravated Assault – Use of a Deadly Weapon to Produce Death or Serious Bodily Harm.
Just before 1 p.m., Horn Lake Police responded to the area of Ashbriar Cove to a man who had been wounded.
When officers arrived, they said an 18-year-old victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.

Through the course of statements and video surveillance, HLPD officers identified the alleged shooting suspect as Montrail Williams Jr.
Moments after the shooting, officers said they located Williams and took him into custody without incident.
According to the school district, parents were emailed around 1:30 p.m. that Horn Lake Elementary School, Horn Lake Intermediate School, Horn Lake Middle School, and Shadow Oaks Elementary School had locked all exterior doors.
'All students are safe inside the buildings at these schools. There is no immediate threat inside the schools. Law enforcement officials are on our campuses until the fugitive is captured,' said the school district.
At 1:56 p.m., the school district informed parents that law enforcement had determined no schools were affected by the situation, and students were released on time Monday afternoon.
