‘Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy' Sets Summer Airdate on ITV in the U.K. (Exclusive)
Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy will air on ITV1 and ITVX in August, The Hollywood Reporter can reveal. Blue Ant Studios, an international production studio and rights business, inked the deal with the U.K. channel to release the film at 9 p.m. London time on Aug. 18. Commissioned by Peacock/NBC, the documentary first aired on the U.S. streamer in February this year. In its premiere week, Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy made Peacock's top 10 list of most-watched shows. ITN Productions has since updated the film to reflect the developments in the case of Dr. Salvador Plascencia, who pleaded guilty Wednesday to giving Perry ketamine in the month leading up to the Friends star's death. 'The story of Perry's rise to fame is interwoven with the harrowing tale of his final days,' a plot synopsis says, 'as he allegedly received ketamine from sources the U.S. Attorney claims 'should have known better.'' Friends co-star and Hollywood doyenne Morgan Fairchild — who fans will recall played Chandler's eccentric mother Nora Bing in the NBC series — talks candidly in the film about Perry's drug addiction and working with the actor. The doc also includes commentary from Hollywood insiders, U.S. Sun journalist Katy Forrester, medical professionals and Martin Estrada, the District Attorney at the Central District of California U.S. Attorney's office at the time of Perry's death, among other contributors. 'This latest sale to ITV in the U.K. is testament to the timeliness of the project in addition to ITN Production's thorough examination of the tragic end of Matthew Perry's life,' says Gerbrig Blanksma, senior vp international sales and partnerships at Blue Ant Studios. 'Sales have already been made in nearly 20 territories globally, and we expect interest in the documentary to continue.' Sasha Breslau, ITV head of content acquisitions, added: 'We're pleased to bring this in-depth and fascinating film to ITVX, documenting the life of one of television's best loved actors, Matthew Perry. The film hears first hand from those who knew Matthew, as well as telling the story of his untimely passing with updated developments not seen before.' ITN Productions' head of international programmes Ian Russell said: 'The film got a lot of attention when it was released on Peacock in the U.S. and I am delighted that Blue Ant Studios has found it a home on ITV, so U.K. audiences can appreciate the — now updated — intricacies of this tragic story.' Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy was executive produced by Ian Russell, head of international programs for ITN, as well as Mike Griffiths and Robert Palumbo. It was directed by Palumbo and the production manager was Nickie Hyde. It was commissioned by Cori Abraham, senior vp, NBCUniversal and is distributed worldwide by Blue Ant Studios. ITV to air powerful new documentary on Friends star Matthew Perry's tragic death as charged doctor pleads guilty
ITV is set to air a powerful new documentary on Friends star Matthew Perry's tragic death. Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy will be shown on ITV1 and ITVX next month. 4 4 Perry was beloved worldwide for his iconic role as wisecracking Chandler Bing. He starred alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer. The one-off documentary first aired on US streamer Peacock in February this year. However, it has since been updated by producers to include brand new developments. Morgan Fairchild - who played Perry's mother on Friends - talks about their time working together. It also features US Sun journalist Katy Forrester and Martin Estrada, who was District Attorney at the Central District of California US Attorney's office at the time of Perry's death. Meanwhile, the documentary will be shown at 9pm on August 18. It comes as Dr. Salvador Plasencia pleaded guilty to giving Perry ketamine in the month leading up to his passing. The California doctor had been charged in the 2023 overdose death of the Friends star. He pleaded guilty on Wednesday to four counts of illegal distribution of the prescription anesthetic ketamine. The 43-year-old physician faces up to 40 years in prison when sentenced, prosecutors warned. He was one of five people charged in connection with Perry 's tragic death. The beloved actor and comedian was found unresponsive in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home in October 2023. Perry had suffered acute effects of ketamine and drowning, his autopsy revealed. 4

reunited with her fellow 80s Hollywood icons Morgan Fairchild, Dyan Cannon and Cynthia Sikes Yorkin while hosting a star-studded dinner in Los Angeles. The Charlie's Angels star, 79, and Patrick Foley both played host to some of Hollywood most recognisable 80s sex symbols for the glitzy meal at Hotel Bel-Air. For the occasion, Jaclyn cut a sophisticated figure in a fitted white suit, made up of tailored trousers and a blazer with padded shoulders. She styled her chic ensemble with a striped grey shirt and added to her frame with a pair of pointed heels, while she toted her essentials in a coordinated handbag. Jaclyn, best known for playing Kelly Garrett in the Charlie's Angels TV series for its complete five-year run, added to her features with a blush make-up palette. She posed alongside model Alana Stewart, 80, who coordinated in a sheer white gown with a tiered skirt which showed off her incredible figure. Alana, who was married to Rod Stewart from 1979 to 1984, showed off her ageless features as she beamed for the cameras alongside Jaclyn. Mork & Mindy star Morgan, 75, also milled around the star-studded event and cut a vibrant figure in a purple patterned blazer and matching lilac trousers. In more recent months, she was caught up in the devastating Los Angeles fires, which saw many people - including a long list of Hollywood stars - lose their homes. The Rage Of Angels actress fled to Santa Barbara, California, in January after leaving her $20million Beverly Hills mansion and posted about the devastation at the time. 'Too many friends have lost homes, families have lost precious mementos from their loved ones, heirlooms, books, art and the treasures that tell the story of a life. . . all gone in an instant,' she wrote. 'Despite this unimaginable tragedy, what remains is resilience, and the unwavering resolve of the human spirit.' It is not known exactly where Jaclyn lives in Beverly Hills, but more than 80,000 people were displaced in the fires including stars Paris Hilton, Mel Gibson, Anna Faris and Leighton Meester and Adam Brody, among many others.
