Canada election sparks hopes for revived Indian student interest amid declining enrolments
With Canada set to hold federal election on Monday, study abroad consultants are pinning hopes that the incoming government will be more supportive of Indian students already enrolled or weighing study options in Canada. #Pahalgam Terrorist Attack India stares at a 'water bomb' threat as it freezes Indus Treaty India readies short, mid & long-term Indus River plans Shehbaz Sharif calls India's stand "worn-out narrative" Hit by a real estate crisis, stricter immigration policies, and tensions in New Delhi-Ottawa diplomatic ties, Indian student flow to Canada plunged more than 40% between 2023 and 2024, according to ICEF Monitor, a market intelligence resource for the international education industry. However, with US President Donald Trump taking a stricter stance on international students, Canada may again start attracting more Indian students, experts said. 'The 2025 federal election presents an important opportunity to reflect on Canada's future and the vital role international education plays,' said Anuj Gupta, head-client relations, Canada & Germany at AECC, a study abroad consultant. (Join our ETNRI WhatsApp channel for all the latest updates) The Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) has meanwhile called on the next federal government to set up a Pan-Canadian International Education Council. Live Events Indian students mostly pursue courses in STEM, agriculture & agriculture food, healthcare, trade & transport, etc in Canada. Most of the skilled professional programmes have a co-op or internship programme allowing students to learn through real-world experiences. Moreover, recent trends on immigration in Canada have been very positive—the North American nation approved more than 30,000 Permanent Residency (PR) invitations in the first quarter of 2025, said experts. Canada is among the top four overseas education destinations for Indian students—the others are the US, UK and Australia. 'We have seen the bottom of the ocean, and I feel whoever is the winner will create some positive vibes, especially for 'Study in Canada',' said Arvind Manduva, cofounder, I20 Fever, a study abroad consultancy. 'Many of whom were on H1B (visas) applied for PR in Canada in Trump's 1st term. This is likely to happen now as well.' If the Trump administration removes the Optional Practical Training (OPT) benefit, then Canada is likely to become the biggest destination for Indian students heading overseas, experts said. Also, top-ranked US universities charge around $70,000 (about Rs 60 lakh) for a single course per year, sharply higher than CAD60,000 in Canada (about Rs 36 lakh). Vaibhav Gupta, chief marketing officer at iSchoolConnect, a study abroad platform, said however that Indian students will start considering Canada again only if there is a major policy change to attract foreign students. According to the education ministry, the number of students heading to Canada fell sharply to 137,608 in 2024 from 233,532 the year before. 'We are witnessing the same at iSchoolConnect. Our inquiries regarding Canada are almost negligible,' said Gupta. According to Career Mosaic, student enrolments declined by 70% between 2021 and Fall 2024, with a further 33% drop projected in 2025 for Canada. 'With sustained policy focus and the upcoming elections, Canada could recalibrate its international student framework and become a top destination for Indian students,' said Manisha Zaveri, joint managing director, Career Mosaic, a study abroad firm. Aditya Shanker Raghuwanshi, chief executive, Masterclass Space, however, has a cautious stance on the polls and Canadian government policies. 'Indian students should not consider too much a shift from the immigration policy of liberals,' he said, referring to the ruling Liberal party in Canada.

How to solve the Gestral Beach question in Expedition 33
(Image via Sandfall Interactive) Gestral Beaches Clair Obscur Expedition 33 hides some great challenges, but there is a quirky quiz that has recently left players scratching their heads. After you navigate the treacherous parkour course, you will face a cryptic question from a Gestral about age and gommage. While the answer is pivotal, there's a clever trick in the game. Here is how you have to tackle the puzzle and get the rewards without overcomplicating it. Where to find the Gestral Beach challenge? The journey begins when you head to the northwest of the Ancient Sanctuary. Follow the sandy path to the portal that is between the crumbling wooden beams. After you get inside, brace yourself for the parkour narrow platforms, rotating logs, and clunky movement mechanics. Patience is the key here, as the controls are not built for precision jumps. So, have some. Focus on the timing and not the speed. The spinning logs offer a split-second window for the leap. If you miss it, you will respawn at the start, and it will bring a lot of frustration. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like People In Chhattisgarh Say Goodbye To Mosquitoes With This Revolutionary Solution Mosquito Eliminator Read More Undo Pro tip: Pause after every successful jump to reset the focus. It is the test of persistence and not the skill. Crack the Gestral Beach question in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - Gestral Beach Challenge 1 After you survive the obstacle course, you will meet Gestral who will ask you, 'If I were a two-year-old human, at what age would I gommage?' The answer to the question is 17, tied to the Pillar countdown of Paintress. But remember, there is a twist: any response you give will work. The Gestral does admit that they cannot do the math. So, your guess will be just as good as theirs. But if you ask why choose the answer 17? Well, as the child in Expedition 33 ages, the countdown of the monolith decreases. At 17, their age and the countdown intersect— a reality for the citizens of Lumiere . Remember, irrespective of your picked number, the reward will remain the same. Claim the challenge rewards When you answer correctly or incorrectly, you will unlock, Swimsuit for Gustave as the first reward— it is auto-given. Swimsuit for Lune— a second reward after the question is answered. Then, equip it using the Wardrobe tab and add the tropical flair to the gloomy arsenal. Remember that Gestral will not give you more rewards. So, if you want more, the Gestral hints at some other beaches with similar challenges. Collect all for the full team makeover. Swimsuit rewards are worth the hassle. They are purely cosmetic, yet the vibrant designs starkly contrast the world of the game, the smart rebellion against darkness. So, have it. Also, do not overthink the riddle. Just conquer the Gestral Beach question and enjoy the swimsuits. They are the rare bright spots in the Expedition 33.

OpenAI's image generator is now open to businesses worldwide via API
In a major expansion of its AI capabilities, OpenAI has officially launched gpt-image-1, the multimodal model behind ChatGPT's image generation, to developers and businesses via API, chief executive Sam Altman confirmed the development on X. The move comes after the feature's debut last month, where over 130 million users generated more than 700 million images in just one week. The API version makes it possible for organisations to incorporate the model's image generation capabilities into their own products and services. OpenAI says the model is designed to support practical applications in fields like design, marketing, ecommerce, education, and gaming. It supports a range of visual styles, allows for detailed customisations, and is able to render text within images—features that make it useful across several industries. Users can apply it to tasks such as visual design, content creation, product marketing, and more, the company said. Live Events Use cases Discover the stories of your interest Blockchain 5 Stories Cyber-safety 7 Stories Fintech 9 Stories E-comm 9 Stories ML 8 Stories Edtech 6 Stories As image generation capabilities become more accessible through the gpt-image-1 API, a number of companies across different sectors are already putting the technology to use. Several companies have begun experimenting with the model: Canva is testing integration with its AI-powered design tools to help users turn rough sketches into detailed visuals and perform edits more efficiently. GoDaddy is exploring image generation for logo creation, background removal, and producing social media content for small businesses. HubSpot is investigating how the model might support customers in creating marketing materials such as images for emails, social posts, and landing pages. Instacart is testing image generation for recipes and grocery lists. invideo, a video editing platform, has added the model to improve its AI-based visual editing features. Pricing and safety concerns The model uses a token-based pricing structure: $5 per million tokens for text input, $10 per million for image inputs, and $40 per million for image outputs. Based on typical usage, this amounts to approximately $0.02 to $0.19 per image, depending on quality and size. The API is now available globally, although some developers may need to verify their organisation before gaining access. OpenAI says the image generation tool includes built-in safety measures to help prevent harmful or inappropriate content from being created. These include filters that screen out unsafe material, and digital "tags" (called C2PA metadata) that show the image was made by AI. Developers who use the tool can also choose how strict the content filtering should be. Importantly, OpenAI doesn't use images or data from the API to train its models, helping protect users' privacy.

Boiler blast injures seven factory workers in UP
Gorakhpur: A powerful explosion rocked a fast-food manufacturing unit in Gorakhpur's GIDA Sector-13 on Wednesday evening, leaving seven workers injured, two of them critically. The blast occurred when a boiler used for drying noodles exploded, causing partial collapse of tin shed and boundary walls of the factory. According to officials, the explosion was so loud it was heard up to 2 km away. Panic gripped the area as thick smoke and debris filled the premises, prompting workers and nearby residents to flee the site by jumping over the gates. The injured workers , all migrant labourers from Bihar, were rushed to CHC Piprauli, from where they were referred to BRD Medical College. Two of them – Umar Farooq and Majid – sustained major burn injuries, with nearly half of their bodies scorched. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took immediate note of the incident and directed officials to ensure best possible treatment of the victims. Commissioner Anil Dheengra, district magistrate Krishna Karunesh, DIG Anand Kulkarni and SSP Gauran Grover visited the medical college and instructed hospital authorities to prioritise care of the injured. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like People In Karnataka Say Goodbye To Mosquitoes With This Revolutionary Solution Mosquito Eliminator Read More Undo The blast took place at a factory at plot number D-20 owned by Himanshu Mani Tripathi who was not reachable to the authorities. The unit manufactures packaging items like cardboard and paper plates and produces instant noodles. Preliminary investigations suggest the explosion was triggered by the boiler used in the production process. SP North Jitendra Kumar Srivastava said technical experts were called in to assess the damage. Tehsildar R K Kannaujia and senior police officials are probing the incident to determine accountability and to ensure safety protocols.
