Parliament Monsoon Session 2025 Live: After Op Sindoor, world's interest in weapons made in India is increasing, says PM
PM Modi called Pakistan the "mastermind of terrorism" and praised the all-party delegations that visidted several countries as part of India's global outreach following Operation Sindoor.
PM Modi called the Monsoon session of Parliament a "victory celebration". "India's flag being hoisted at the International Space Station is a moment of pride for every Indian. All MPs and the countrymen in one voice will glorify this feat. It will be an inspiration for our future missions," he said.
During his address ahead of the Monsoon session of Parliament, PM Modi said that the houses of terrorists in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) were razed within 22 minutes. He said that the world has its eyes on weapons made in India following the success of Op Sindoor.
Responding to the Opposition's demands to discuss key issues in Parliament, BJP leader Sanjay Jaiswal said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would attend the proceedings if he considers the matter important. He also said that Rahul Gandhi is barely present in the lower House and said that the Congress MP should first complete 30 days in the Lok Sabha before making demands.
"First, Rahul Gandhi should promise that he will complete 30 days in Lok Sabha. I have never seen him for more than 5 minutes inside Lok Sabha," he said.
Ahead of the Monsoon Session of the Parliament, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of hypocrisy and neglecting crucial issues.
"Very shortly, the nattily dressed Prime Minister will give his usual Desh ke Naam Sandesh through the media outside the Parliament Building before the commencement of the Monsoon Session of Parliament. This will be full of his usual platitudes and hypocrisy," Ramesh said in a post on X.
"Prime Minister Modi is very, very, very rarely present in Parliament. He speaks once a year on the Motion of Thanks to the President's Address. But this time he owes it to the country to be present when the issue of Pahalgam-Operation Sindoor-President Trump is finally taken up for discussion. 48 hours later, the Super Premium Frequent Flyer will start yet another foreign visit. The people of Manipur will have more cause for disappointment," the Congress leader added.
On the eve of the Monsoon session of Parliament, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Sunday urged political parties to maintain mutual respect and ensure meaningful debate by keeping bitterness and offensive language at bay.
"We can have differences of opinion, we can have disagreements, but how can we have bitterness in our hearts?" Dhankhar wondered.
"I appeal to everyone in the political spectrum: please have mutual respect. Please don't trade unbecoming language on television or otherwise against the leadership of one party or the other. This culture is not the essence of our civilisation," he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended birthday greetings to Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, who turned 82 on Sunday.
"Best wishes to the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge Ji on his birthday. Praying for his long and healthy life," PM Modi said in a post on X.
As the Monsoon session of Parliament is all set to begin today, Congress MP Jebi Mather criticised the Centre for allegedly evading critical issues raised by the Opposition.
"At a time when our country was facing a dangerous phase, the INDIA alliance had asked for a special session of Parliament to find out the real status, but till now there are no answers to many questions. There are multiple issues for which the government should provide answers. But the government deviates from what is relevant and more important. INDIA alliance has given priority to issues which are important to the country, and the government should be willing to discuss them," Mather said while speaking to news agency ANI.
The Opposition is likely to raise a range of contentious issues in Parliament during the Monsoon session, including the US President's repeated claims of brokering a ceasefire with Pakistan and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar. In the all-party meeting ahead of the session, the Opposition pressed for Prime Minister Modi's response on these matters, as well as the alleged lapses leading to the Pahalgam terror attack.
The recent Air India crash in Ahmedabad, which claimed 260 lives, and broader concerns over aviation safety are also expected to be key flashpoints, especially in light of US reports blaming pilot error.
Congress MPs Manickam Tagore and Renuka Chowdhury moved an adjournment motion to discuss the "serious national security and foreign policy failure" in the backdrop of the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
Congress MP Randeep Surjewala on Monday submitted a Suspension of Business Notice under Rule 267 in the Rajya Sabha, seeking a discussion on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. Rule 267 permits members to suspend regular proceedings to take up pressing issues of national importance.
