Rajesh Khanna once revealed the REAL REASON he didn't let Dimple Kapadia act in films after marriage: ‘Wanted a mother for my children'

Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia 's marriage was one of the most talked-about unions in Bollywood. When the two tied the knot in 1973, Dimple was just 16 years old and on the brink of stardom, having just finished filming her debut film, 'Bobby', directed by Raj Kapoor . However, shortly after the wedding, she stepped away from the limelight, putting her acting career on hold. It would be years before she returned to the big screen. Past interviews and reports reveal how Rajesh Khanna played a key role in Dimple's decision to quit acting soon after their marriage. Left acting right after 'Bobby' release 'Bobby' was released in 1973 and turned out to be a blockbuster, establishing Dimple Kapadia as a promising new face in Bollywood. But rather than capitalising on that momentum, she withdrew from the industry shortly after. The actress only appeared in that single film before disappearing from the screen for more than a decade. She chose instead to focus on her home life with Rajesh Khanna, raising their two daughters, Twinkle Khanna and Rinke Khanna . Khanna wanted a hands-on mother As reported by The Indian Express, in a 1990 edition of Movie Magazine, Rajesh Khanna sat down with fellow superstar Amitabh Bachchan for an interview where they discussed the criticism both had faced over the years, especially the idea that they had forced their wives to give up their careers. Khanna, reflecting on the matter, admitted that he had not even seen 'Bobby' when he decided Dimple should not continue acting. 'I had no problems about my wife working. But when I married Dimple, I wanted a mother for my children. I didn't want them to be brought up by servants. And I had no idea of Dimple's talent; Bobby was still not released,' he explained. Twinkle questioned the double standard Khanna went on to share that had he seen 'Bobby' earlier and realised the extent of Dimple's talent, he may not have made the same choice. He said, 'Besides, if I knew at that moment that Bobby would prove her talent, I wouldn't have stopped her. To curb talent is cruel. By the time I saw Bobby, our first daughter was already born.' He further recalled, 'Recently, when I told one of my daughters Twinkle, that if she would like to act in a film, I would produce one for her. She said, 'You will let me act but to mummy you say no.' I said, 'For the simple reason that I am your father and not your husband.' ' Despite the challenges, Dimple stayed in the marriage for several years and devoted her time to raising Twinkle and Rinke. But eventually, the relationship crumbled, reportedly by the early 1980s, Dimple decided to walk out of the marriage. However, despite their separation, the two never officially divorced; she was by his side during tough times. Rajesh Khanna passed away in 2012, after a long battle with cancer.

Rishi Kapoor Said Affair With Juhi Chawla After Marrying Neetu Kapoor Was 'Publicity Gimmick': 'I Was Brain Washed'

Rishi Kapoor also denied having an affair with Amrita Singh as she was not his 'type'. Rishi Kapoor and Juhi Chawla starred in films like Bol Radha Bol and Saajan Ka Ghar. The audience loved their pairing and soon, the two were even subjected to link-up rumours. It was said that Rishi Kapoor was dating Juhi Chawla despite being married to Neetu Kapoor. However, in an interview with Movie Magazine in 1997, Rishi clarified that the rumours were only a publicity stunt. When asked about the speculation surrounding Juhi Chawla, Rishi Kapoor told the publication, 'Juhi's was a publicity gimmick. I was brain-washed into going along with it because I was told that I had this great romantic image on screen, so I should have a romantic link-up with Juhi." Juhi Chawla was not the only actress that Rishi Kapoor was linked to during that time. His name was also linked with Amrita Singh. However, Rishi denied these allegations and said, 'Juhi and Amrita Singh? Bull. Amrita was not my type." In the same interview, Rishi was asked about the rumours swirling about him and several starlets. Rishi said, 'I'm the hero who introduced the maximum number of new girls. If I didn't proposition them, why would I chase bloody tarts, yaar? Ask Kajal, Kiron, or Padmini Kolhapure. I treated them like kids, yaar. Ask Neetu! Ya, I teased her a lot, but did I ever proposition her, did I ever say I'll get you thrown out of a film if you don't go to bed with me? We didn't have a sexual relationship going. If I didn't pounce on her all those years when she was new and we were doing God knows how many films together, and I knew she had a soft corner for me, why would I try stunts with those horrible names you've taken?" Neetu Singh, who had joined Rishi in the interview, opined that young actresses were using Rishi Kapoor's name for publicity. First Published:

Aishwarya Rai Took A Dig At Sushmita Sen Post Miss India, Said She 'Looked For Fame, Money': 'I've Had Always These'

Aishwarya Rai lost the Miss India 1994 pageant to Sushmita Sen. Aishwarya Rai and Sushmita Sen started their journeys together in the pageant world and were competitors in the 1994 Miss India pageant. While Sushmita Sen won the title, Aishwarya Rai was the first runner-up. Sushmita Sen made her Bollywood debut in the 1996 film Dastak, and Aishwarya in the 1997's Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya. Back then, the actresses were often pitted against each other, and there was also a rumoured rivalry brewing. The speculations were fueled after Aishwarya's comment about Sushmita in an interview with Movie Magazine. In a 1997 interview with the publication, Aishwarya commented on Sushmita's Miss India win. She said, 'Probably Sushmita always looked for fame, glamour, and money. For her, it was an all-time high to become famous. But I've always had these things, so it didn't make any difference." Netizens recently dug up Aishwarya's statement, and it has gone viral on Reddit. However, actress Maninee De, who was also a top 10 finalist in the Miss India contest of 1994, debunked these rivalry rumours last year. During an interview with Siddharth Kanan, she emphasised that there was no genuine animosity between the two actresses and that they conducted themselves with dignity, especially considering their young age at the time. She said, 'To my knowledge, there was no rivalry at all. This was media created because Sushmita was the underdog. When we went from Delhi, we were told Aishwarya was a model for a popular soap brand, so what would we even do there? But there was nothing like that, especially from what I have witnessed." Not many know that Sushmita Sen's victory in the pageant was a result of the tie-breaker round. Aishwarya Rai was asked a unique question that left the audience and judges curious. She was asked to choose a better husband between two iconic television characters, Ridge Forrester from 'The Bold & Beautiful' and Mason Capwell from 'Santa Barbara'. Aishwarya's response was a surprise to many as she chose Mason, stating that he had a caring side and a great sense of humour, qualities that matched her personality. On the other hand, Sushmita Sen was asked about the textile heritage of the country and her personal preferences in clothing. In her answer, she credited Mahatma Gandhi's promotion of khadi as the start of India's textile legacy. First Published:
