Senior ECER engineer charged with 14 counts of corruption
KOTA BARU: A senior civil engineer for the East Coast Economic Region (ECER) special projects unit was charged at the Sessions Court here today with 14 counts of corruption totalling RM100,000.
Muhamad Azly Abdul Aziz claimed trial to all the charges read to him before judge Dazuki Ali.
The 44-year-old claimed trial to taking money from one Mohd Solehin Abdullah to facilitate recommendation of the interim claim certification for Central Spine Road (CSR) projects.
These were for Package 3 (Gua Musang to Kampung Relong, Pahang); Section 3D (Gua Musang roundabout to Mentara); and, Sections 3B and 3C (Km180.5 of the Kuala Lumpur-Kota Baru Highway to Gua Musang roundabout).
He was alleged to have received the money via online transfer at CIMB Islamic Bank of Jalan Maju branch from an account owned by Afiq Aziz Enterprise.
All transactions took place at the same bank and bank account
between Dec 22, 2022 and Oct 31, 2023.
The father of four was charged under Section 16(a)(B) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009, which is punishable under Section 24(1) of the same.
Tengku Nurul Haziqah Tuan Yacob acted for the prosecution while the accused was represented by Azeezi Nordin.
The judge allowed bail of RM12,000 for all charges with one surety.
He then fixed July 17 for mention pending submission of documents.
