Labourer charged with sexually assaulting girl, 9, in oil palm estate
KOTA BARU: A labourer was charged in the Sessions Court here today with sexual assault of a underage girl in an oil palm estate here on earlier this month.
Muhamad Khalis Ikmal Mohd Sakeri, 21, pleaded not guilty to the charge before judge Tengku Shahrizam Tuan Lah.
He was accused of physical sexual assault on the girl, aged 9 years and 11 months, on Aug 2.
The offence was said to have taken place sometime in the evening of that day, at the Kampung Sri Kemuntin Gunong oil palm estate near Bachok.
The charge was framed under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act, 2017, punishable under Section 14 of the same act.
Anyone found guilty under the section is liable to a jail term of not more than 20 years and caning.
The court then fixed Sept 23 for remention of the case against Khalis, who was not represented.
