Student killed after motorcycle goes out of control in Terengganu
KUALA TERENGGANU: A student was killed when the motorcycle he was riding went out of control and crashed along Jalan Sultan Mahmud here early this morning.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd Noor said the police received a call about the incident at around 2.25am.
He said the victim, Muhammad Syazwan Haniff Abdul Halim, 18, from Batu Buruk, was riding a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle and died at the scene.
He added that the victim was believed to be heading home at Jalan Budiman here from a restaurant in Batu Buruk.
"Initial investigations found that while the victim was riding straight, he is believed to have lost control of the motorcycle before crashing and falling onto the right side of the road.
"As a result of the accident, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
"His body was sent to the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital's forensic unit for further action," he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
