Muharraq Governorate Hosts 'Haiya Beya' Heritage Festival to Celebrate Eid Al-Adha
The Muharraq Governorate brought the spirit of heritage to life with the 'Haiya Beya' Heritage Day Festival, held on the scenic Sunrise Coast at Sama Bay Park in Qalali.
Muharraq Governor His Excellency Salman bin Isa Bin Hindi Al Mannai marked the occasion by extending warm Eid Al-Adha greetings and blessings to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Highlighting the festival's cultural importance, the Governor said the 'Haiya Beya' celebration is a cherished part of Bahrain's identity, embodying the island's deep-rooted customs and strengthening intergenerational bonds.
The event was a festive spectacle featuring the distribution of traditional 'Haiya Beya' plants to children, who later took part in the symbolic tradition of tossing them into the sea—a ritual that carries hopes and blessings for the days ahead. Traditional songs, chants, and a variety of popular local foods added to the day's nostalgic charm.
The Governor praised the event's atmosphere and expressed gratitude to all partners who contributed to its success. A special thanks was extended to the Ministry of Interior, Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, Muharraq Municipality, InterGulf Insurance Brokers, Kashta Tours, and Friends of Gardens Nursery for their vital support.
The 'Haiya Beya' Festival stands as a proud testament to Bahrain's enduring traditions and the Muharraq Governorate's dedication to preserving and celebrating its cultural legacy for future generations.
