4 suffer burns after boiler explodes at Selangor palm oil mill

(JBPM pic) PETALING JAYA : Four foreign workers suffered burns after a boiler exploded at a palm oil mill in Tanjong Karang, Selangor, this morning. Selangor fire and rescue department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the Bestari Jaya station received a distress call at 8.55am and dispatched personnel to the scene. The fire, which had resulted from the explosion when the workers were heating water in the steam boiler, was already extinguished by the time the team arrived. 'The four victims comprise one Indian national, two Nepali nationals and one Bangladeshi, all aged between 20 and 30. 'All the victims suffered burns on their legs and were taken to Tanjung Karang Hospital by the public before the fire department arrived at the scene,' Mukhlis said in a statement.

4 workers injured after steam boiler explodes at palm oil mill
fuadnizam@ KUALA LUMPUR: Four workers were left injured after a steam boiler exploded at a palm oil mill in Bestari Jaya, Kuala Selangor. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said they received an emergency call at 9.11am. Following the call, a team of four firefighters and a fire rescue tender from the Bestari Jaya Fire and Rescue station was dispatched to the scene. "According to preliminary reports, the explosion occurred when the workers were conducting water heating tasks using the steam boiler for the mill's operations. "There were four victims — a local, two Nepalese nationals, and one Bangladeshi — all aged between their 20s and 30s. Each sustained burns to their legs," he said in a statement. Mukhlis added that the fire had been extinguished before firefighters arrived. All victims were taken to Tanjong Karang Hospital by members of the public.

Driver killed as car hits road sign near Kota Warisan
SEPANG: A 25-year-old man was killed when the car he was driving skidded and crashed into a road signpost near Kota Warisan early this morning. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said they received a distress call regarding the incident in Bandar Serenia, heading towards KLIA. "A team from the KLIA Fire and Rescue Station comprising a fire rescue vehicle with seven firemen was deployed to the location. "The operations commander reported that the incident involved a Perodua Myvi which had skidded and hit a road signpost," he said in a statement. Mukhlis said that the driver was subsequently confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel.
