DPIIT reviews key issues holding up mega infra projects in TN, Andhra Pradesh
The Project Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) held a high-level review meeting on Monday to address key issues impacting mega infrastructure projects in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
Among the key projects discussed was the Multi-Product Pipeline project from Irugur in Tamil Nadu to Devangonthi in Karnataka, at an estimated investment of ₹1,732 crore. The pipeline spans multiple districts in Tamil Nadu — Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Erode, Krishnagiri, Namakkal, Salem, and Tiruppur — and then extends into the Kolar and Bengaluru Rural districts of Karnataka.
According to a release by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the project faced three key land acquisition issues and one forest clearance issue in Tamil Nadu, which were taken up for resolution.
A total of 18 critical issues pertaining to nine infrastructure projects that are collectively valued at over ₹4,904 crore were reviewed during the meeting, which was chaired by the Principal Economic Advisor to the DPIIT Praveen Mahto, and included senior officials of central ministries and state governments.
