Kalgoorlie-Boulder was a melting pot of cultures on Saturday as residents enjoyed sights and sounds from across the globe. The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder's much-loved Multicultural Festival saw the Goldfields Arts Centre forecourt and Cassidy Street transformed into a vibrant hub of food stalls and live performances. A cultural village in the Lord Forrest Precinct showcased handmade goods and community stalls as well as dance lessons and henna tattooing. City's Multicultural Festival on this Saturday
The diverse cultures of the Goldfields will be on full show when the annual City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Multicultural Festival returns this Saturday. The popular festival is the city's biggest annual cultural event and celebrates the region's diversity with cultural performances, music, dancing and food. Those attending on Saturday can expect to enjoy a variety of food stalls with worldwide cuisine; dance workshops, face-painting and roving entertainment; to connect with local cultural and community groups; and to browse handmade items at the 'cultural village'. Mayor Glenn Wilson said the festival had become one of the city's most anticipated events. 'Every year, the Multicultural Festival reminds us just how diverse and welcoming Kalgoorlie-Boulder is,' he said. 'We're a community made up of people from all corners of the globe, and this event is a celebration of that – of the stories, food, music, and traditions that shape who we are.' 'What I love most is the way it brings people together. Whether you've lived here all your life or just arrived, everyone's welcome.' Mr Wilson also thanked the community groups, volunteers, performers, and City staff who make the event possible each year. 'It's thanks to the people behind the scenes that we can continue to offer this free event for our community – and it wouldn't be what it is without their passion and hard work,' he said. 'I encourage all residents to join us in supporting local performers and food vendors who have put in an enormous amount of time and effort to make this year's event unforgettable.' The event takes place on Cassidy Street, the Goldfields Arts Centre forecourt, and the Lord Forrest Precinct from 3pm-8pm.

Agawam Public Schools hosts 5th annual Multicultural Festival
AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – Agawam's annual 'Multicultural festival' was on Sunday and showcased the region's rich cultural tapestry. It was a celebration of diversity and inclusion as families gathered to learn and enjoy each other's traditions. For the fifth year in a row, Agawam Public Schools has hosted the multicultural festival at School Street Spray Park. Giving families a chance to learn about different cultures through a wide array of traditional music, dancing, food, and various activities. 'It was like really fun and like the food was also good,' said Masa Ghanem of Springfield. Those who came out to the pak recieved passports and waalked around several country tables, trying to pronounce words in different languages and earning stickers as they went along. Once they visited all the countries they earned free face paint and balloon art. 'It makes us more excited. It's like that young generation is like excited to learn different languages. That's yeah, we got to keep keep it up this year,' expressed Ayla Alkan, Agawwam Family Resource Center Coordinator. Some of the vendors shared their joy in being able to share their culture with others. One such vendor was the Parus Turkish Market in West Springfield. 'it means a lot to me. I love telling everybody about my culture and where it's from. Today I got a lot of questions about where the food is from specifically and what's the culture and ingredients in the food,' said Parus Turkish Market's, Hadiya Azizvoa. This festival not only promotes cultural awareness and appreciation, but also fosters unity and togetherness within the community. 'Makes the community realize that we're more connected in more ways than what we realized. It really brings people together and makes us a tight knit community,' said Agawam Public School social and emotional learning director, Marlene Dejesus. And these meaningful connections and memories are to be cherished for a long time. Organizers and volunteers hope to see this festival continue to grow and inspire even more community engagement in the years to come.
