Real Madrid Consider Sign Man City's Rodri
Rana Atef Spanish media reports have indicated that Real Madrid are working to sign Manchester City midfielder Rodri Hernández during the current summer transfer window, in a deal that could be worth up to €100 million. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Real Madrid management sees Rodri as the ideal replacement for Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement at the end of last season. The 29-year-old Spanish player is still under contract with Manchester City until the summer of 2027. However, negotiations to extend his deal until 2030 have not seen tangible progress, sparking speculation about his future, despite coach Pep Guardiola's insistence on keeping him as a key component in midfield. Rodri's prolonged absence last season due to injury had a clear impact on City's performance, underlining his tactical importance to the team. At the same time, it has raised some concerns among Real Madrid officials regarding his fitness and readiness should the deal go through. read more Japan Stun Spain 2-1 to Qualify for World Cup Last 16 World Cup 2022: Get to Know Confirmed Line-ups of Japan and Spain Group E Decider Saudi Arabia Bid Farewell to World Cup after 2-1 Loss to Mexico Tunisia Achieve Historic Win over France but Fail to Qualify Tunisia to Clash against France in World Cup Sports Get to Know Squad of Group D Teams in World Cup Sports Al Ahly Gift EGP 70,000 to Players After Claiming Egyptian Super Cup Title Sports Bencharki Hits First 2 Goals with Al Jazira Since Leaving Zamalek Sports Arsenal Possible Line-up for Nottingham Forest News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks

Putellas believes Spain can end their winless series against Germany
Spain star Alexia Putellas believes her team can end their winless series against Germany in the women's Euro 2025 semi-finals on Wednesday. "There's always a first time. The goal, of course, is to get to the final, and that means beating Germany for the first time," she told the Mundo Deportivo newspaper in an interview ahead of the match. In eight matches so far, Germany have won five times, while in three other occasions the teams played out a draw. Their last encounter was at the Paris Olympics last summer. Germany defeated Spain 1-0 to take the bronze medal. When asked how they intended to beat Germany, Putellas replied: "With the same methods we've used throughout the tournament." In the group stage, Spain beat Portugal 5-0, Belgium 6-2 and Italy 3-1. In the quarter-finals, they won 2-0 against hosts Switzerland. Putellas has won the 2023 World Cup and the 2023-24 Nations League with Spain. The team, however, is still chasing its first European title.

Manchester City tried to sign an FC Barcelona heavyweight according to Mundo Deportivo, which cited a report from RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins that relied on anonymous sources. Jules Kounde was one of Joan Laporta's main marquee signings during the famous summer of the 'econonic levers' back in 2022. Chelsea was believed to be the frontrunner for the then-Sevilla center back, only for Barca to snatch him away at the last minute. Though there have sometimes been reports about his discontent in having to play right back, Kounde has been a roaring success in the position and become one of the best in the world at playing it. In the spring, he cemented his status as a modern-day Blaugrana legend by scoring an extra time Copa del Rey final winner against Real Madrid in his past-adopted hometown Seville and there are many Culers that believe Barca might have advanced to the Champions League final had he been available for the semifinal second leg lost 4-3 to Inter Milan. On the brink of a new season, there is talk of Kounde renewing his initial five-year contract in Catalonia which expires in 2027. According to Mundo Deportivo, extending Kounde's terms is something that is 'near', and a key development that Barca would like to see tied up before the transfer window closes on August 30 if everything is OK on the Financial Fair Play (FFP) side of things. Because of his strong form, however, it is unsurprising that big clubs around the rest of Europe have tried to turn the 26-year-old's head. Reportedly attempting to do the same with Lamine Yamal in the past, which Pep Guardiola confessed, Manchester City has expressed its interest in Kounde according to Hawkins. 'For several weeks, FC Barcelona and Jules Kounde have been negotiating a contract extension. A positive outcome is hoped for by all parties," Hawkins tweeted. "Manchester City and another top-tier club have made inquiries about the French international. Tied to Barça until 2027, the 26-year-old player is highly valued by the Catalan club, which considers him the best in the world in his position,' Hawkins added. Kounde looks set to continue at FC Barcelona The common consensus is that Kounde is happy with life at FC Barcelona and will continue there. Luckily for Culers, this means they should expect to see more of fantastic chemistry between the 2022 World Cup finalist and Lamine on the right flank moving forward under Hansi Flick.

Talks have progressed swiftly since it emerged the Spanish giants wanted to sign Rashford last week. Barcelona has been the 27-year-old's number one choice ever since he declared in December he was ready for a new challenge after being axed by United head coach Ruben Amorim. It is not completely out of the question that Rashford could join Barca when they head off for their pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea later this week. Ironically, one of Barcelona's opponents is FC Seoul. Rashford's former United team-mate Jesse Lingard scored the only goal for them in their K-League victory over Ulsan earlier on Sunday. Update: Date: 08:13 BST Title: 'I cannot comment on any player who is not part of our group yet' Content: It's not all one-way traffic though. Fresh from tempting Noni Madueke to cross from west London, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has teased Gunners fans with an update on their never-ending striker search. Despite the gossip mongers cheekily suggesting Manchester United could be submitting a bid for long-time target Viktor Gyokeres, Arteta gave his strongest hint yet that the former Coventry front man could soon be arriving at Emirates Stadium. When asked about the Sweden striker, he said: "I cannot comment on any player who is not part of our group yet. When we have something concrete to offer in any case to any player we will do that." OK, it's not exactly an update as such, but Mikel did put the onus on the word YET, which feels pretty significant. Stick with us for more quotes from the Arsenal manager... Arsenal completed a £48.5m deal for Chelsea's England winger Noni Madueke, with the 23-year-old signing a five-year contract. He is expected to provide competition for wide players Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. Elsewhere, newly promoted Leeds United made their fifth signing of the summer, taking central midfielder Sean Longstaff from Newcastle on a four-year contract in a deal worth £12m plus add-ons. The 27-year-old ended an 18-year association with his boyhood club and said that Elland Road was the "perfect place" for him after failing to nail down a regular place in the starting line-up at St James' Park. Finally, on Sunday, West Ham completed the free transfer of Kyle Walker-Peters on a three-year deal. The 28-year-old former Tottenham defender made 202 appearances for Southampton but left the relegated side this summer following the end of his contract. Barcelona star makes transfer stance clear amid summer exit rumors
Barcelona defender Gerard Martin has broken his silence on rumors linking him with a move away from Camp Nou. The 23-year-old, who featured regularly last season, has made it clear he's staying put — and has no plans to pack his bags this summer. Martin played 42 matches in the 2024-25 campaign, including eight in the Champions League. He finished the season with one goal and six assists, showing his ability to support the attack. Still, with Alejandro Balde the usual starter at left-back, talk grew over Martin possibly seeking more game time elsewhere. Several clubs have reportedly shown interest, but Martin isn't listening to the gossip. And fans hoping for a full-back shuffle might want to cool their jets. 📲 Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp What Gerard Martin said on Barcelona future? Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, the Spaniard was clear and calm. 'I don't know if those stories are true. If they were, someone would have told me by now. I'm happy at Barcelona. I don't want to go anywhere. As long as the coach and the club trust me, I can't ask for more.' Martin added that working closely with the coaching staff has boosted his confidence. 'The coach trusts me, and that helps a lot. We've done video analysis together, and in training, he pushes me to give my best. During games, he asks me to be myself and stay focused.' He also gave an update on his recovery after undergoing hand surgery earlier this summer. 'I'm fine now. I was in a cast for three weeks, and at first I was a little worse, but I'm better now, ready to train on Monday and do whatever else I need to do.' With Barcelona heading to Asia for pre-season, Martin is set to join the squad and compete once again for his spot. While Balde may be the top pick, the race for minutes is far from over. Expect Martin to stay in the mix — and possibly shake things up at left-back.
