98.3% of plea received from Corporations, 97.4% of plea received from Municipalities under Mudhalvarin Mugavari resolved, says Tamil Nadu government
The Tamil Nadu government on Sunday listed out various measures undertaken by the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department for the welfare of people in the State. An official release said that the allocation of ₹9,011 crore has been made for 71 drinking water projects that would benefit 12.137 million people in four Municipal Corporations, 13 Municipalities, 49 Town Panchayats, and 10,565 rural habitations. It has allocated ₹1,777 crore for 17 Underground Sewerage Schemes in three Municipal Corporations, eight Municipalities, and six Town Panchayats. It has sanctioned ₹6,655 crore for drinking water works and park development in corporations and municipalities. Under the Kalaignar Urban Development Scheme, ₹5,000 crore has been allocated to Municipalities and Town Panchayats, it said. Under the 'Namakku Naame' (Our Own Scheme), with an allocation of ₹582 crore and public contribution of ₹183 crore, various development works were underway, it said. Under the Urban Employment Scheme, job identity cards have been provided to 2,04,860 people with an estimated cost of ₹100 crore and 12,71,006 man days generated. Under the Solid Waste Management Action Plan, 42,225 individual household latrines (IHHL), 545 public toilets, 614 urinals, 154 micro composting centers and 561 material recovery facilities have been established. So far, in Municipalities and Corporations, under AMRUT 2.O, 446 underground sewage works, drinking water works, park development and water body restoration and improvement works have been completed in three phases at an estimated cost of ₹6,655 crore. Under the Smart Cities Mission, 11 Corporations have been developed at an estimated cost of ₹10,639 crore. Under the Infrastructure and Development Fund, 28 new bus stand projects have been approved at a project cost of ₹968 crore, and Trichy, Namakkal Corporations,Sankarankoil, Colachel, Gudalur (Theni), Melur Bus Stand have been completed and is in use. The works of the remaining bus stands are nearing completion, it said. Under the Kalaignar Urban Development Scheme and Capital grant funds, 28 new bus stands and under the Capital Grant Fund, at an estimated cost of ₹279 crore,out of which three busstand works completed and remaining busstand works were in progress, it said. Under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, underground sewerage scheme works are underway in 14 Corporations at an estimated cost of ₹3,360 crore, it said. 'To prevent flood damage in the suburban Municipalities and Corporations of Chennai, stormwater drainage works with a length of 109.094 km have been completed at an estimated cost of ₹270 crore,' it said.A total of 177 new shelters have been constructed and are in use at an estimated cost of ₹97.70 crore under the National Urban Livelihoods Mission. Under the 'Mudhalvarin Mugavari' (Chief Minister's Address) scheme, out of 46,241 petitions received so far in Corporations, 98.3% have been resolved and out of 85,464 petitions received in Municipalities, 97.40% have been resolved, it said.

Gujarat: CM Patel grants approval for projects worth over Rs. 1,700 cr in six municipal corporations
Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], June 6 (ANI): Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has adopted a significant approach to enhancing urban welfare with better facilities during the Urban Development Year 2025, which the State Government is celebrating. In this regard, the Chief Minister has granted in-principle approval for works worth over Rs. 1700.57 crore in a single day for various development projects in 6 newly formed municipal corporations, 5 municipalities, and the Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar Municipal Corporations. During his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated effective and planned urban management with the celebration of Urban Development Year in 2005. Through his foresight, urbanization was embraced as a unique opportunity for development. This vision, coupled with public participation, led to the development of beautiful, clean, and dynamic cities, consequently establishing the state's urban centres as well-planned, developed cities. Inspired by the Prime Minister, the state's two-decade-long successful urban development journey is now being further advanced under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. To guide urban transformation and empower citizens effectively, the year 2025 is being celebrated as the Urban Development Year. On May 27, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the celebration of this Urban Development Year and gave a vision to make cities dynamic centers of economic activity. To realise that vision, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhya Mantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, gave in-principle approval for works worth over Rs. 1700.57 crore. From the total amount approved by the Chief Minister for development works, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation will receive Rs. 546 crore, Gandhinagar Rs. 32 crore, and among the newly formed municipal corporations: Anand Rs. 148 crore, Morbi Rs. 270.08 crore, Surendranagar Rs. 257.60 crore, Nadiad Rs. 71.91 crore, Vapi Rs. 251.91 crore, and Navsari Rs. 90.35 crore. Additionally, Vadnagar municipality will receive Rs. 16.37 crore, Himmatnagar Rs. 7.33 crore, Siddhpur Rs. 3.74 crore, Halvad Rs. 4.02 crore, and Bharuch municipality will receive Rs. 85.52 lakh for development works. The Chief Minister has approved Rs. 676.28 crore for a total of 247 inter-structural facility works in six newly formed municipal corporations, including streetlights, solar facilities, city beautification, development of public gardens, drainage, traffic circles, rainwater harvesting, stormwater drainage lines, city civic centers, fire equipment, etc. Under the Mukhya Mantri Shaheri Sadak Yojana, the Chief Minister has given in-principle approval for works worth Rs. 652.78 crore for road renovation, resurfacing, white topping, and repair of roads wider than 60 feet in Anand, Surendranagar, Vapi, and Morbi municipal corporations, as well as Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar municipal corporations. Furthermore, under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhya Mantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, the Chief Minister has approved works worth Rs. 191.91 crore for essential infrastructure, such as filter plant repairs, roads, gutters, storm drains, and water facilities for the Surendranagar, Vapi, and Anand municipal corporations. He has also approved Rs. 31 crore for the construction of iconic roads in Anand and Surendranagar municipal corporations and sanctioned works worth Rs. 85.52 lakh for standard plot paver block works under the Private Society Public Participation Scheme (Khangi Society Jan Bhagidari Yojana) in societies within Bharuch municipality. To provide easy access to drinking water in newly included areas of towns and cities, the Chief Minister has approved a total of Rs. 67.35 crore from the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhya Mantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana for water supply works in Himmatnagar and Siddhpur municipalities and Morbi municipal corporation. In addition, Morbi and Vapi municipal corporations and Halvad municipality have been sanctioned works worth a combined total of Rs. 64.02 crore for works such as drinking water lines, underground gutters, asphalt roads, CC roads, and fire station construction in outgrowth areas. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has stated that the amount allocated for the development of urban welfare works will add new momentum to the urban development of the state in the coming days, enabling citizens to realise the goal of 'earning well - living well' through the planned development of cities and urban areas. MahaIT sets Aug 15 deadline for all govt services under RTS to go online
Nashik: Sanjay Katkar, managing director of Maharashtra Information Technology Corporation Limited ( MahaIT ), has set an Aug 15 deadline for all govt departments to provide online access to services notified under the Right To Service . Katkar, the first MahaIT MD to visit Nashik since its inception in 2017, reviewed local offices and urged officials to expedite digital service delivery . "He visited Savargaon village in Peth taluka and the taluka headquarters to review the Bharat Net programme, which aims to provide broadband to govt offices," a senior district officer said. In a meeting with government departments, Katkar emphasized the need to move services online. Currently, agencies like Municipal Corporations, the Tribal Development Department, the Regional Transport Office, and the Maharashtra State Transport Corporation operate their own portals. "The govt is working to integrate all services into a single platform, a task assigned to MahaIT," the officer added. Katkar also met village-level staff from Aaple Sarkar Seva Kendra and aadhaar centres to understand challenges in application processing and payments. He assured them of timely resolution. At the Smart City Corporation, Katkar directed officials to accelerate system interlinking efforts and scheduled a follow-up meeting for updates. With student admission season underway, Katkar urged officials to ensure timely issuance of certificates. He warned against exploitation of applicants, "Any persons found charging exorbitantly should be dealt with strongly."

India-Pakistan tensions: Gujarat government cancels all leaves of employees with immediate effect
Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Gujarat government on Friday cancelled leaves of all departments with immediate effect and instructed the employees not to leave the headquarters without obtaining prior permission from the department head. Announcing the cancellation of leaves, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel stated, 'In view of the prevailing situation, all types of leaves for officers and employees of all departments and offices of the state government, as well as Boards, Corporations, Panchayats, Municipal Corporations, and autonomous and grant-in-aid institutions, have been cancelled with immediate effect.' Further, instructions have been issued to the heads of the respective departments or offices to ensure that officers and employees currently on leave report back to duty with immediate effect. 'Additionally, officers and employees have been instructed not to leave headquarters without prior approval from the head of the department,' the order issued by the General Administration Department stated. There will be a ban on flying drones in the state for the next 96 hours (four days) and bursting of loud crackers till May 15, declared the Gujarat government on Friday. Sending out this prohibitory order on X, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi sought cooperation from people in following the guidelines. Strict legal action will be taken against any person or organisation violating this decision taken for security and peace, said DGP Vikas Sahay. As per the order issued by DGP Sahay, District Collectors and the Police Commissioners concerned have been instructed to issue necessary notifications to impose a complete ban on flying drones across the state for the next 96 hours and on bursting loud crackers till May 15. 'Loud crackers can create fear and suspicion in the minds of the people, which is not necessary in the current circumstances. To stop such acts, instructions have been given to issue necessary notifications regarding the ban on bursting of all types of loud crackers. Along with this, the use of UAV/drone by any government or private organisation or person has been banned for the next 96 hours (4 days),' the order stated. Principal Secretary of Food and Civil Supplies R C Meena said that the state government has instructed every district collector to ensure that essential commodities are easily available to the citizens, and that prices are under control. For this, the prices of 38 essential commodities are continuously being controlled and monitored by the state government and each district collector on a daily basis. All vendors, retailers, processors, millers and importers have been specifically urged to follow the necessary legal rules to prevent stockpiling or hoarding of essential commodities. If any person or organisation is found involved in such activities, strict action will be taken against them by the District Collectors under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, the Principal Secretary said. The state government has requested citizens not to be misled by any kind of rumours and to fully cooperate with the state government and the district administration with trust. Given its unique position as the only state in India to share a land as well as a sea border with Pakistan, Gujarat has been undertaking a series of measures to ramp up security in light of escalating tensions between the two countries.

Moreover, all the employees have also been instructed not to leave their headquarters without obtaining the prior approval of the department head, the notification said. 'In view of the prevailing situation, all types of leave for officers and employees of all departments and offices of the state government, as well as Boards, Corporations, Panchayats, Municipal Corporations, and autonomous and grant-in-aid institutions, have been cancelled with immediate effect,' Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said in a post on X. 'Instructions have also been issued to the heads of the respective departments or offices to ensure that officers and employees currently on leave report back to duty with immediate effect. In a post on platform 'X', Patel further said instructions have also been given to each district collector to keep the prices of essential commodities under control. 'To prevent hoarding or black marketing of essential commodities, all sellers, retailers, processors, millers and importers have been strictly instructed to follow the necessary legal provisions,' Patel said in his post. 'Citizens are humbly requested not to fall prey to any kind of rumours and have faith in the state government and district administration,' he added.
