VTrans announces Municipal Roads Grants-in-Aid Program
BARRE, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – Vermont's Agency of Transportation is offering municipalities the chance participate in their Municipal Roads Grants-in-Aid Program.
This program offers municipalities funding to 'implement best management practices (BMPs) in accordance with the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation Municipal Roads General Permit (MRGP),' according to an VTrans release.
All grant awards will be made through VTrans, which will reimburse up to 80% of documented construction costs, specifically for BMPs on hydrologically connected roads. VTrans says they anticipate getting funding, and intend to provide grants to those that agree to the terms.
Eligible best management practices include projects like stabilizing catch basin outlets, lowering high-road shoulders, stabilizing conveyance zones and more. To participate, municipalities must return their signed participation Letter of Intent by May 23.
