Utah to experience warm weekend, followed by rain and thunderstorms
SALT LAKE CITY () – We're closing out Friday with wide, blue sunny skies across the state and kicking off the weekend on a gorgeous note, but that pattern will soon change. Temperatures will stay very warm for Saturday. Daytime highs should be similar to Friday's in the south and even warmer in the north. Highs will be in the low to mid-80s for the Wasatch Front and St. George, while most other valleys range from the mid to upper 70s. Although it'll be warm, plenty of moisture will be moving in through southern Utah. A large Pacific system will drag moisture across the Great Basin and into the Beehive State, spelling scattered showers and thunderstorms for southwest Utah and the West Desert by the late afternoon. Northern Utah will see an increase in moisture as well, but only enough to introduce a mix of sun and clouds for now. By Sunday, the entire Beehive State, including the north, will be battling scattered showers and thunderstorms. Murray Museum reopens in the historic John P. Cahoon Mansion This slow-moving system will keep showers and thunderstorms locked in through Tuesday for the vast majority of the Beehive State. Temperatures will also take a serious drop, tanking all the way into the lower 60s for valleys by Monday, including in St. George. Murray Museum reopens in the historic John P. Cahoon Mansion
MURRAY, Utah () — Murray City reopened the Murray Museum in the historic John P. Cahoon Mansion Friday. The museum debut is part of the city's '' campaign, which aims to celebrate the town's history, culture, and events. On Apr. 25, 2025, the museum received the Rehabilitation & Restoration Award from Preservation Utah, Murray City said. The Murray City Museum is reimagined, and opening this week 'This museum tells the stories of who we are, from our pioneering roots to the incredible community we've become,' said Murray Mayor Brett A. Hales. Built in 1899, the Cahoon Mansion has worn many hats over the years. The previous owners, Bill and Susan Wright, used the historic building as a reception center for decades. 'It [was] heart-wrenching to leave it,' Susan Wright told ABC4's Craig Wirth shortly after she and Bill sold the mansion in 2015. Along with the museum's grand reopening, Murray City is also hosting a community block party across the street at Murray City Hall on May 2 from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. The event will bring live music, performances, food trucks, and local vendors.
