Pakistan is once again indulging in a well-orchestrated propaganda campaign on the anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A, observed by Pakistan as 'Youm-e-Istehsal' on August 5, 2025.
This campaign serves as a strategic tool for Pakistan to express its continued opposition to India's constitutional changes in Jammu and Kashmir and to internationalise the Kashmir issue by portraying India as an oppressor.
The government, through its Ministry of Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit-Baltistan and diplomatic missions worldwide, organises various activities including public demonstrations, such as the 'Youm-e-Istehsal Walk' in Islamabad, as well as coordinated events at Pakistan embassies and consulates across the globe.
The 2025 Youm-e-Istehsal observance is another instance of Pakistan's persistent, state-sponsored propaganda endeavour to internationalise the Kashmir issue. This annual propaganda cycle relies heavily on misinformation and orchestrated social media campaigns that distort the reality on the ground, perpetuating a narrative designed more to serve Pakistan's geopolitical objectives than to reflect credible human rights concerns.

The so-called event will also be observed at missions abroad, including Brussels-Belgium, Niamey-Niger, Houston-USA, Tripoli-Libya, Hungary-Budapest and Madrid-Spain.
The Pakistani government systematically uses these observances to propagate a narrative of alleged human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir. It has long been noted by credible sources that this narrative often relies on recycled falsehoods, misleading content, and disinformation. Pakistan's foreign ministry and its diplomatic missions actively push hashtags like #Youm_E_Istehsal and #KashmiriLivesMatter on social media platforms, engaging bot accounts and coordinated networks to amplify anti-India messaging on a global scale.

Moreover, Pakistan's propaganda machinery engages separatist figures, such as Mushaal Mullick, wife of the incarcerated Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik, to further inflame sentiments against India.
This campaign includes distributing pre-prepared content, organising media briefings, and encouraging protests under the guise of solidarity with Kashmiris. Independent fact-checks and international observers have often identified these campaigns as disinformation, highlighting that many images and videos circulated by Pakistan are either fake, taken out of context, or unrelated to the Kashmir Valley altogether.
