Collaborative project co-funded by U2 set to deliver dynamic performance in Wexford at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann
Inspired by the young musicians who performed at the 'Music at Mount Leinster' festival earlier this year, Music Generation Wexford proudly presents a dynamic concert including: Yellow Bellows from Music Generation Wexford, Waterford Senior Traditional Ensemble, Reelig and Reel-Nua Reel-Óg from Music Generation Carlow, Music Generation Laois Traditional Orchestra, Rithim Traditional Orchestra from Music Generation Wicklow and CCÉ Admiral Brown Traditional Ensemble from Mayo.
Music Generation is co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds, the Arts Council/An Comhairle Ealaíon and the Department of Education. Speaking on the project, lead singer of U2, Bono said 'What we want to do is really simple. We just want to make sure that everyone, whatever their background, gets access to music tuition. That's the idea.'
Music Generation now reaches over 85,000 children and young people across 29 cities and counties in Ireland. Its genesis stems from the combined philanthropic support of U2 and The Ireland Funds to seed-fund phased implementation of Music Network's Feasibility Study Report: A National System of Local Music Education Services.
"'Bí Ann- Music Generation' is an incredible opportunity to witness first hand some of the amazing musicians who are part of this national programme,' said performer and event manager with Ad Personam Cultural Events.
A concert for all ages as part of Fleadh Cheoil na h-Éireann 2025, 'Bí Ann Music Generation' will run in Whites of Wexford on Wednesday, August 6 at 3 p.m. Ticket prices include: €10 for an adult, €5 for a child and €25 per family.
