JD Vance extends olive branch to Elon Musk despite Epstein claim about Trump

JD Vance says Elon Musk made a "mistake" by feuding with President Donald Trump and offered the Tesla CEO an olive branch after their public rows JD Vance has openly criticized Elon Musk for engaging in a public spat with Donald Trump, labeling Musk's actions as a "mistake". However, the VP extended an olive branch to the South African billionaire after highly publicized disagreements. ‌ He expressed hope Musk can mend fences with the president by the 2026 midterm elections. ‌ Musk's influence on last November's elections was deemed significant by many, with his views and endorsements reportedly aiding Trump's victory. In a candid discussion with The Gateway Pundit, a conservative outlet, Musk confessed to having "a complicated relationship" with the White House, while acknowledging his precarious position as both SpaceX and Tesla head. Vance advised Musk, saying: "My argument to Elon is like, you're not going to be on the left ... even if you wanted to be - and he doesn't - they're not going to have you back, that ship has sailed." ‌ He further commented: "I really think it's a mistake for him to try to break from the president." Recognizing Musk's role as a key supporter and contributor to Trump's 2024 campaign, the vice president credited him with contributing to its success. Vance concluded with optimism: "My hope is, by the midterms, things are kind of back to normal." ‌ He humorously remarked that Musk might not even answer his calls at this point. Vance told the Huffington Post: "I kid, I'm sure he would take my call," adding that he hopes the situation between Musk and the White House "cools down." The vice-president minimized any conflict between Trump and Musk, emphasizing he is "pretty big-tent about this stuff." ‌ According to the publication, Vance stated: "If you're patriotic, you're not trying to sink your knife in the back of the president, you're not trying to betray the movement, I don't care about these, like, minor, little disagreements,". During the early days of Trump's second term, the two appeared inseparable. However, following Musk's exit from the administration, they began trading public insults, which culminated in Elon suggesting Trump is in the Epstein files. He later apologized for this remark. ‌ The Tesla chief's remarks infuriated President Trump, who even threatened to cancel federal contracts with Musk-operated companies. A Musk associate was also pulled from consideration for NASA administrator, further souring relations between the duo. Their conflict reached a boiling point when Trump faced calls to "deport Elon Musk immediately" during their heated dispute. The US President was also pressured to terminate all contracts with the tech mogul and initiate multiple investigations into the world's wealthiest individual. Mr Musk, 53, condemned Mr Trump's flagship domestic policy legislation as an "abomination" and tensions between the pair have intensified.
