6 homes destroyed in Bandar Tun Razak fire
KUALA LUMPUR: Six homes were destroyed in a fire at Lorong Mewah 3, Bandar Tun Razak, late last night, leaving one man hospitalised after experiencing shortness of breath.
The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre received an emergency call via the Malaysian Emergency Response Services (MERS 999) at 10.49pm, after which fire engines were dispatched to the scene.
Senior Operations Commander Mustafa Kamal Mohd Arih said that a team from the Bandar Tun Razak Fire and Rescue Station was deployed to the location, with additional support from the Jalan Hang Tuah, Sungai Besi, Cheras, Sri Hartamas, and Taman Tun Dr Ismail fire stations.
The operation involved a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and a total of 43 personnel.
"Upon arrival at the scene at 10.54pm, firefighters found that the fire involved six terrace houses," he said.
"The affected homes were between 50 and 70 per cent destroyed by fire. A 45-year-old male victim who experienced shortness of breath was taken to hospital.
"He was placed in the yellow zone and is in stable condition," he added in a statement today.
He said the fire was fully extinguished by 12.06am, and the cause is still under investigation by the fire forensic unit.
