Baghdad hosts 4th Arab Media Conference focusing on climate change coverage
Baghdad ( – Baghdad is currently hosting the 4th Arab Media Conference, a significant event held for the first time in Iraq. Organized by the Iraqi Media Network with the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), the conference, themed The Role of Media in Confronting Climate Change, has drawn wide official and media participation from across the Arab world.
The event is seen as a milestone in Iraq's return to the regional media landscape. Iraqi musician Mustafa Zayer, who performed at the opening, noted Baghdad's exceptional days, with even its music turning more joyful. Tunisian journalist Duha Tliq, on her third visit, remarked, 'Iraq has changed a lot; I saw reconstruction and restored hope… Iraq is on the right path.' Samah Mawzelati, also from Tunisia, praised the organization, generosity, and welcome, highlighting the media's crucial role in simplifying complex climate issues. Ahmed Yahya from Comoros was impressed by the advanced level of topic presentation.
Discussions have covered desertification, water scarcity, and AI in climate reporting. Mohamed Ould Amar, DG of ALECSO, stated Iraq hosting sends a message of peace, with the conference aiming to create a roadmap for joint Arab action on critical issues. The event underscores Baghdad's re-emerging role and a collective Arab commitment to addressing climate change through informed media.
