Injured Mustafizur out of Pak-BD T20s
Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman has been ruled out of Bangladesh's upcoming T20I series against Pakistan after injuring his left thumb during his final Indian Premier League (IPL) match. The left-arm pacer sustained a clip fracture, which will sideline him for at least two to three weeks. According to team physio Delowar Hossain Siva, Mustafizur needs rest and rehabilitation. "He suffered a clip fracture on his left thumb and won't be available for selection for the next two to three weeks," he said. "We will conduct a follow-up evaluation after two weeks to monitor his recovery progress," he added. In Mustafizur's absence, fast bowler Khaled Ahmed has been called up to the squad as his replacement. Meanwhile, the three-match T20I series, originally set to begin on May 27, will now start on May 28 and run through June 1. All matches will be held at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium, with an 8:00 PM start time. The change in schedule comes after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) requested a slight delay to help the players settle and train before the series. The arrived in Lahore on May 25 and will have two practice sessions on May 26 and 27. This tour is also significant for Pakistan, as it marks the first assignment under new white-ball head coach Mike Hesson. Despite some big names missing from Pakistan's squadincluding Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridithe selectors have opted for a blend of youth and experience based on recent performances in the HBL PSL. Notable inclusions are Hasan Ali, Hussain Talat, and Sahibzada Farhan. Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman also return after recovering from injuries. The series was initially planned as a five-match contest, with games in both Lahore and Faisalabad. However, concerns within the Bangladesh camp led to the series being reduced to three games, all to be held in Lahore. Players gather in Lahore The third and final group of Bangladesh cricket team members, consisting of four players and support staff, arrived in Lahore on Monday ahead of the upcoming three-match T20I series against Pakistan. This group of players includes Litton Das, Shoriful Islam, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy, along with members of the support staff. The Bangladesh squad arrived in Pakistan in three separate groups for the series. Earlier, on Sunday, a 10-member contingent arrived in Lahore as part of the first phase. This group featured players such as Hasan Mahmud, Tanvir Islam, Parvez Hossain Emon, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib. Originally, Bangladesh were scheduled to arrive on May 21 in two groups for a five-match T20I series, with the opening match planned for May 25 in Faisalabad. However, due to logistical challenges and evolving security considerations, the tour was revised to a three-match series. The decision to revise the schedule was finalized after a productive meeting between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials, including chairman Nazmul Abedeen and President Farooq Ahmed. Both boards reached a mutual agreement to proceed with the series under the revised plan. According to the updated schedule, all three T20 Internationals will be played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on May 28, May 30, and June 1. PAK vs BAN: IPL injury rules Mustafizur Rahman out of T20I series against Pakistan; Bangladesh name replacement
Bangladesh were dealt with a heavy blow after Mustafizur Rahman was ruled out of their three-match T20I series against Pakistan following an injury the fast bowler sustained during the Indian Premier League (IPL). Mustafizur, who was picked up by Delhi Capitals as a replacement player for Jake Fraser-McGurk, sustained a left hand injury in the game against Punjab Kings while attempting a return catch off off Josh Inglis. "Mustafizur suffered a clip fracture on his left thumb while playing his last match of the Indian Premier League yesterday," Bangladesh national team physio Delowar Hossain told ESPNCricinfo. The Bangladesh pacer will be out for at least two-three weeks. "This injury requires a period of rest and rehabilitation. We will conduct a follow-up evaluation after two weeks to monitor his recovery progress," added Hossain, when asked how much time it will take to heal. In IPL 2025, Mustafizur played three games, picking up four wickets in total. While he went wicketless against Gujarat Titans, the left-handed fast bowler recorded figures of 1/30 (vs Mumbai Indians) and 3/33 (vs Punjab Kings). Delhi Capitals finished fifth in the points table. Replacing Mustafizur, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named Khaled Ahmed. Earlier, Nahid Rana had withdrawn due to personal reasons while an injured Soumya Sarkar was replaced by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Khaled is coming after a strong show with 20 wickets in the recent Bangladesh Premier League. Bangladesh will play Pakistan in three ODI's in Lahore on May 28, 30 and June 1. The Bangla Tigers are coming after a humiliating 1-2 T20I series loss against lowly-ranked United Arab Emirates. Stay updated on all the action from the IPL 2025. Kings miss chance to top IPL table with Delhi loss
Punjab Kings lost to Delhi Capitals by six wickets in the Indian Premier League, as teams chasing the top spot continued to slip up. Leaders Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Kings have all already qualified for the play-offs along with Mumbai Indians but are battling to secure their seedings. The Titans failed to consolidate their position on Thursday, losing to Lucknow Super Giants, opening the door to RCB and the Kings to take first position. Both teams failed to capitalise, with RCB unable to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings now falling to Delhi. Sameer Rizvi hit an unbeaten 58 from 25 balls in Jaipur as fifth-placed Capitals successfully chased their target of 207 with three balls to spare. All of Delhi's batters contributed to their innings, with KL Rahul (35), Faf du Plessis (23), Karun Nair (44) and Sediqullah Atal (22) all chipping in before Tristan Stubbs (18 not out) joined Rizvi for an unbroken 53-run partnership that took the Capitals over the line. Kings lost Priyansh Arya (6) in the second over after being put into bat, with the opener caught by Stubbs off seamer Mustafizur Rahman, who took 3-33. However Josh Inglis struck 32 from 12 from number three, while captain Shreyas Iyer top-scored with a 34-ball 53. Marcus Stoinis then closed the innings by smashing three fours and four sixes on his way to an unbeaten 44 from 16 deliveries, as Kings closed on 206-8. Kings remain in second, level on points with third-placed RCB and with one less than leaders Gujarat. All three teams have one game remaining, and Gujarat can seal a first place finish with a win against Chennai on Sunday (11:00 BST). Delhi were already out of contention for the knock-out phase and have now finished their season with a guaranteed fifth place finish. Scorecard, IPL fixtures & results, table

'Fraud and choker' trend as Rohit Sharma falls to left-arm bowler again; fans ask him to retire
The fight for the final Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 playoff spot continues, and with just one place up for grabs, two teams — Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) — remain in contention. This match at Wankhede Stadium is essentially a virtual knockout, and after winning the toss, DC opted to field first, putting MI in to bat on their home turf. However, MI didn't get the start they were hoping for, as DC pacer Mustafizur Rahman dismissed Rohit Sharma for just 5 off 5 balls, silencing the Wankhede crowd — especially on a day when MI was handing out special 'Hitman' jerseys and masks. Fans unhappy with Rohit Sharma's shot Soon after the batter hit that shot and wicketkeeper Abishek Porel took that catch, fans flooded X (formerly known as Twitter) with words like 'fraud' and 'choker'. Some even went as far as to tell the 'Hitman' to retire from IPL as well. One said, "A never ended beautiful love story between Rohit Sharma and Left arm bowler".
