15 High School Pranks That Went Too Far
As a tradition, high school pranks are supposed to be harmless fun — some glitter in a locker, a cow on the football field, maybe a little too much shaving cream. But inevitably, there are always some students who take it too far. Recently, u/FaithlessnessFar8315 asked, "When did the high school prank go too far?" and the stories that followed were equal parts unhinged, dangerous, and totally unforgettable. Here are just 18 of them: "Our rival high school put crickets in the air vents. The school had to close for three days, and even when it reopened, we were finding crickets everywhere." "Someone at my high school went to the student parking lot and opened all the gas caps on the cars, leaving them hanging by the little strap. Everyone just kind of screwed them back on and went on with their day. Except one kid whose parents had bought him a brand-new Mustang Cobra that he worshipped. He freaked out, convinced someone had put sugar in his gas tank. Had the car towed, the tank drained and inspected, etc. He tried to bill the school for it. They held a meeting with all the seniors, demanded to know who did it, and threatened to cancel the graduation ceremony. I honestly don't know how it ended since I was a junior, but the ceremony did happen." "The seniors put live fish in all the sinks and toilets throughout the school." "A senior prank at my high school involved the seniors scattering hay and hay bales throughout the building. Funny if you're OK with hay. Debilitating if you have an allergy to it." "I did the bubble bath in the school pool prank. I'd found some bubble bath at a 99-cent store that was ridiculous — tiny amount, tons of foam. I bought enough to fill my gym bag. I knew where the cameras were, snuck in on a weekend, dumped the whole bag, and bolted. The entire lower quad still had wisps of foam on Monday. There was a high foam mark near the pool, almost up to the roof. What I didn't know was that this kind of thing can kill the pumps. They had to clean the pool and flush the system multiple times with anti-foaming agents. It shut down the pool for months. Water polo had to use other schools' pools, and PE schedules were shifted all year. So much crap happened I couldn't even take credit for it on the DL. I also wouldn't have done it if I'd known how bad the cleanup would be." "In the '70s, at a small-town high school, we had a fire drill. Everyone gathered in the parking lot. One of my classmates convinced a girl to remove her pantyhose, then wadded them up and put them in the glove box of a male teacher's car (he'd left it unlocked). We later heard his wife found them, went ballistic, and nearly got divorced over it. The teacher wasn't a bad guy. It wasn't revenge or anything — just a high schooler not thinking through the consequences." "Plastered the school with the athletic director's latest DUI mugshot." "We took all the picnic benches and made a tower that was two stories tall. None of us were smart enough to see how dangerous it was while we were climbing and passing benches to the top — but the janitorial staff sure did. The school had to bring in a small crane to safely take it apart. Luckily for us, this was way back in the '80s, and the school didn't have security cameras everywhere, so no one knew who did it." "A person or persons unknown collected the jack-o'-lanterns and pumpkins from virtually every porch in my small town after everybody had gone to bed. They then somehow gained access to the local high school and filled almost every flat surface in the school office, principal's office, and teachers' lounge with pumpkins. The following school day, officials were livid. They claimed a lot of resources were spent to clean up the mess and dispose of the waste. The smell of rotting pumpkins lingered for weeks, despite the custodian's best efforts. Threats were made, and bribes were attempted in an effort to find those responsible. The perpetrators remained silent and apparently never bragged about it, because there was never anything more than rumors, conjecture, and suspicion." "One kid put hand sanitizer in the music teacher's can of Sierra Mist. The teacher was gone for a week but came back seemingly fine, thankfully. The prankster, on the other hand — we never saw her again." "Gasoline writing on the football field created a water table leeching issue. Superglue in the doors was extensive and resulted in broken glass to access many areas. Ten years left to go on the one I was involved in — digging up and replacing time capsule contents. Truly a long game of 50 years. We didn't remove any of the original contents, but we added a few things: some condoms, a few Playboy centerfolds, a print of 'Nastassja Kinski and the Serpent,' a dot-matrix printed list of grievances, and beer/wine cooler caps. We also called out some administrators and teachers, some for serious misconduct. We resealed it properly with silicone waterproof sealant." "Our ROTC was a naval one — not sure if that varies by school, but ours was primarily Navy. They had an anchor from a battleship. I don't know which ship or the proper name for it, but it was a huge fucking anchor. I'm talking school-bus length. Well, one day, that huge fucking anchor that usually sat outside the ROTC building ended up on the football field. Nobody knows who moved it or how. It took a crane to move it back. It had clearly been dragged, because it tore up the concrete, asphalt, track field, and grass before coming to rest — standing upright. Total Stonehenge or Mayan shit. It also completely destroyed the football field's irrigation system. Because of the damage, the football team didn't get new uniforms, nor did the band, and all school trips were canceled. The anchor is now inside the remodeled building. I think they just built the building around it and gave up trying to move it." "Someone snuck way too many laxatives into a kid's water bottle on a school trip. The kid was hospitalized." "I don't know what caused it, but two girls in high school got into a pissing match. I don't know how Girl 1 pulled it off, but when Girl 2 opened her locker in the morning, it was filled to the brim with wet, runny, sloppy cow shit that poured out all over her feet and into the hall. I know because my locker was 6 feet away. She went home and transferred to a different town the next day. Girls are mean." "They tried to stop school from opening for the day by making the buses unusable. A group of kids vandalized the buses so badly they couldn't be driven. Some of it was harmless — like using industrial epoxy to glue the doors shut or removing the rearview mirrors. But they went too far when they cut the brake lines on two of the buses. The district found out when one crashed in the parking lot. Police got involved, and the books were thrown at those poor fools." What about your school? Did the seniors pull something legendary? Or did someone cross the line and ruin it for everyone? Tell us your thoughts or share your wildest prank in the comments below!

Left For 28 Years, 1993 Mustang Cobra Gets Fully Detailed
Read the full story on The Auto Wire The Fox Body, like this 1993 Mustang Cobra, is one of those pony car generations people either love or loathe. Depending on how you feel about the third generation Ford, you might think this particular one left in a shipping container for almost three decades should either be lovingly preserved or the owner contacted a very capable professional car detailer, realizing the classic car needed serious help to regain its shine. After all, the snake became a hotel for rodents. The current owner inherited the Ford from his brother who tragically passed away. After the Mustang blew its transmission long ago, the guy parked it in a shipping container until he could get back around to it, and there is sat. The family wanted to clean it up as a tribute to their loved one. Thankfully, they turned to AMMO NYC, which has expertise in dealing with neglected rides like this one. After giving it a good wash, removing all the debris buildup, the paint appeared chalky. A good polishing job brings the shine back out. While the paint needed a lot of help, the interior not only had rodents' nests and droppings, mold had taken hold. This is an unfortunate risk of leaving a car sitting for years on end. Running a dehumidifier in the cabin periodically can help with prevention. If you plan on storing a car for a while for whatever reason, we suggest adding stabilizing fluids and following any manufacturer recommendations for lubrication. Check inside and around the vehicle periodically, looking for signs of animal infestations. Leaving rodent traps around is also a good idea. Check out the video to see the results – they're amazing.
