Hulk Hogan's memoir rockets to No. 1 days after death

Hulk Hogan's 2009 memoir My Life Outside the Ring has made a dramatic return to bestseller lists following the wrestling icon's sudden death last week. The book, co-authored by Mark Dagostino, has become a must-read for fans eager to understand the man behind the bandana after he passed away from cardiac arrest at the age of 71. Unlike his earlier autobiography, this memoir offers a surprisingly raw and candid glimpse into Hogan's private struggles. Known to millions as the face of professional wrestling in the 1980s and 1990s, Hogan, born Terry Bollea, details the collapse of his marriage, the emotional aftermath of his son Nick's near-fatal car crash, and his own battle with depression. It's a sobering departure from the theatrics of the wrestling ring, stripping away the larger-than-life persona that defined much of his career. In the book, Hogan shares how he nearly ended his life during one of the darkest chapters of his personal implosion. He also discusses the overwhelming pressure of maintaining his public image while silently battling mental health issues. Readers have described the memoir as deeply humanising, shedding light on the price of fame. Still, the pages are far from devoid of wrestling lore. Fans are treated to behind-the-scenes anecdotes from the golden era of the WWE, including feuds, friendships, and pivotal WrestleMania moments that helped shape the sport's global popularity. The timing of the book's resurgence has only fuelled emotional tributes pouring in from fans and fellow wrestlers alike. Many have turned to the memoir as both a farewell and a revelation, a chance to connect with the man they thought they knew. Now topping Amazon charts, My Life Outside the Ring has become more than just a book. It's become part of Hogan's final legacy.

Seated next to The Incredible Hulk actor Lou Ferrigno, Hogan stood out for his sheer size. "As soon as we were on air, everyone kept talking about how massive Lou looked with those big, bulging muscles," Hogan recalled in his 2009 memoir My Life Outside the Ring. Recognising Bollea's massive physique and the public's enthusiasm for Marvel's Incredible Hulk, McMahon saw an opportunity to craft a marketable persona. Wanting to appeal to Irish-American audiences - a common promotional tactic at the time - McMahon wanted to use an Irish name and gave him 'Hogan' as the last name. The combination of comic book power and cultural familiarity helped cement Hulk Hogan as one of the most iconic figures in professional wrestling history.

‘Liar' Hulk Hogan slammed by ex-wife Linda as she sobs over estrangement from daughter Brooke: ‘Worst mess'

Hulk Hogan's ex-wife Linda Hogan slammed the retired WWE star as a 'sex addict' and 'liar' while crying over her estrangement from their daughter, Brooke Hogan. 'It's been 15 however long years since I left Hulk Hogan and my family is the worst mess,' the TV personality emotionally shared via her Instagram Stories Wednesday. 'Brooke doesn't talk to us. She had twins, she got married [and] she didn't tell us,' she added, referring to her daughter's private wedding to hockey player Steven Oleksy in 2022 and birth announcement earlier this month. Linda, 65, alleged the 36-year-old stopped talking to her when the latter got into a fight with Hogan, 71, about eight years ago. 'I don't know how that reflected onto me but she cut me out too,' she sobbed, adding that she still has a relationship with her and the WWE star's son, Nick Hogan, 34. 'He's still such a good boy.' 'I have to be honest about what I went through in my marriage … and what it entailed and what it [has] caused over the years,' Linda added. 'He's a complete liar. He's a sex addict. . . Yet he marches on,' she continued, referring to how her ex promotes his Real American Beer brand like nothing is wrong. 'Such a hero, right? Not.' Linda explained she's given Hulk 'more opportunities to come back' and reconcile their family. 'It's been 20 years and I'm still this sad,' she wept. 'Somebody please explain that … I do love living alone. I don't ever want to be married again after him, trust me.' Reps for Hulk and Brooke weren't immediately available to Page Six for comment. The retired athlete and Linda tied the knot in 1983 and the latter filed for divorce in 2007 when Hulk allegedly had an affair with Brooke's best friend, her publicist told E! News at the time. They finalized their divorce in 2009. In his 2009 memoir, 'My Life Outside the Ring,' Hulk denied that he ever cheated on Linda. While Hogan had been a notable wrestler since the 1980s, the family rose to fame together on their 'Hogan Knows Best' reality series, which aired for four seasons from 2005 to 2007. Hulk later got re-married to his second ex-wife, Jennifer McDaniel, from 2010 to 2021, and wed his current wife, Sky Daily in 2023. Brooke, however, was notably absent from her father's wedding to Daily, saying on Instagram that she was distancing herself from her family to prioritize her 'healing and happiness.'
