Folweni man wanted for double murder
THE police are seeking the assistance of the community in locating 20-year-old Zethembe Joyful Mzulwini, who is commonly known as 'Zwe', from Mpusheni Reserve in Folweni. Also read: Wanted driver arrested and car recovered in Amanzimtoti Police spokesperson, Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo, said Mzulwini was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition in January and was later released on bail, however, he violated his bail conditions. 'While on bail, he allegedly committed a double murder where he reportedly shot and killed two siblings at their home at Mpusheni Reserve on April 28. A warrant of his arrest was issued by the Nsimbini Magistrate's Court on May 5,' said Ngcobo. Police are appealing to anyone who might have information about the whereabouts of Mzulwini to contact the investigating detective on 082 334 8323 or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111. Five cash-in-transit suspects killed in Crown Mines shootout with police Five criminals were killed during a shootout with the police in Crown Mines, Johannesburg, on July 24. According to the police, officers acted on intelligence regarding criminals allegedly planning a cash-in-transit robbery in the Johannesburg area. The suspects' vehicle was spotted on the M1/M2 highway interchange. When the criminals saw the police, they tried to flee. A high-speed pursuit ensued, during which they opened fire on officers. The police returned fire, and the criminals' vehicle crashed into a palisade fence. All five occupants were killed in the shootout. ALSO READ: Woman killed, another injured in Dube Hostel shooting Preliminary investigations confirmed that the same vehicle was involved in a murder and cash-in-transit robbery on July 14 in Kingsley, KwaZulu-Natal. Gauteng provincial commissioner Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni commended the law enforcement teams' joint effort. The operation included members from National Counter Intelligence, the Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal Tactical Response Teams, the Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Gauteng Traffic and private security companies. The SAPS urges the public to help in the fight against crime by reporting criminal activity to the Crime Stop Hotline on 08600 10111 or using the MySAPS app to give anonymous tip-offs.

Police hunt driver after deadly hit-and-run in Sebokeng
SEBOKENG: Sebokeng Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide following a hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a 26-year-old male. The incident on July 23 happened near Thabo Vuyo Resource Centre when a speeding vehicle rammed a street vendor. Police spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane confirmed the incident. 'Our officers were summoned next to Thabo Vuyo Resource Centre, and on arrival, witnesses pointed out to them a lifeless body of an African male who was lying on the ground,' she said. Mokhachane said, 'According to bystanders, the victim was driven over by a white unknown vehicle, which drove at high speed, and afterwards drove off without stopping.' The deceased was declared dead on the scene by emergency medical services staff and taken to Sebokeng Forensic Pathology Services for further investigation. Police are pleading with the public for any information that may assist with the investigation. Five cash-in-transit suspects shot dead by police in Johannesburg
Police fatally shot five suspects during a confrontation at Crown Mines, Johannesburg, on Thursday, 24 July 2025. The incident followed a high-speed chase and shoot-out linked to a planned cash-in-transit (CIT) robbery. According to police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, officers acted on intelligence regarding a planned CIT robbery in Johannesburg. The suspects' vehicle was spotted near the M1/M2 highway split. Upon noticing the police, the suspects sped off, prompting a chase. A gun battle ensued when the suspects opened fire. The chase ended when the suspects' vehicle crashed into a palisade fence. Police shot all five suspects, and they were declared dead at the scene. Preliminary investigations found that the suspects used the same vehicle in a cash-in-transit robbery and murder in Kingsley, KwaZulu-Natal, on 14 July 2025. Police recovered an AK-47 rifle, a pistol, and explosives from inside the car. Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, praised the swift and coordinated action by various law enforcement agencies. The operation involved the National Counter-Intelligence Unit, Tactical Response Teams from Gauteng and KZN, the Hawks (DPCI), Gauteng Traffic, and private security firms. 'These collaborative efforts are yielding success and should send a strong message to criminals that police will not repose and will continue to deal decisively with criminal issues,' Mthombeni said.
