Mykal Walker background, 2024 season A fourth-round pick by the Falcons in 2020, Walker played four seasons in Atlanta before signing a one-year contract as an unrestricted free agent with the Commanders in 2024. A UFA again this year, he was signed by the Cardinals on March 14. He has started 20 of the 74 games he has played in his career, with 12 of the starts coming for the Falcons in 2022. Last season in 17 games (no starts), he played 77 snaps on defense (seven percent) and had 10 tackles (seven solo). He also had two tackles in the postseason. On special teams, he played 344 snaps (74 percent) and had 11 tackles (five solo) plus two fumble recoveries. He had two solo tackles on special teams. Arizona Cardinals announce signing of LBs Josh Sweat, Mykal Walker The Cardinals made official two of their free agent additions of the offseason as Josh Sweat and Mykal Walker officially sign their contracts. The Arizona Cardinals made official a pair of free agent additions. Linebackers Josh Sweat and Mykal Walker officially signed their contracts on Thursday in Tempe. Sweat reportedly got a four-year deal worth $76.4 million, coming to the Cardinals after seven seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. Walker joins the Cardinals on a one-year deal after one season with the Washington Commanders. Sweat led the Eagles with eight sacks last season. His 43 sacks and 97 quarterbacks were the most on the Eagles since he entered the league in 2018, when he was drafted in the fourth round out of Florida State. Over the last four seasons, he has had at least 6.5 sacks each year. Walker had a career-high 11 special teams tackles last year in a career-high 344 special teams snaps. He had his best season with the Falcons in 2020 where he started 12 games and had 107 tackles, two interceptions, six pass breakups, four tackles for loss and a sack. Sweat projects as a starter. Walker, while he has been a starter in the past, will likely play in a reserve/special teams role as he did last season for Washington.
