Former Oregon center N'Faly Dante signs 2-year deal with Atlanta Hawks

Former Oregon Ducks men's basketball center N'Faly Dante has signed a two-year, $4.5 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks, per USA Today's Michael Scotto. Dante spent his rookie season on a two-way deal with the Houston Rockets, primarily competing for the Rio Grand Valley Vipers in the G League. He averaged 15.1 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 1.0 steals per game on 74.3% shooting from the field with the Vipers. He also appeared in four games for the Rockets, averaging 6.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game in limited minutes. Prior to beginning his pro career, Dante was a five-star recruit out of Wichita, KS when he committed to Oregon. He went on to spend five seasons with the Ducks, becoming a consistent contributor in his junior season. Dante broke out during his senior campaign, scoring 17.0 points, grabbing 9.2 rebounds and blocking 1.9 shots per game. He finished his five-year Oregon career as a two-time first-team All-Pac-12 member and a Pac-12 All-Defensive Team selection in 2024. He was also named the Pac-12 Tournament Most Outstanding Player in 2024, helping lead the Ducks to the final Pac-12 tournament title. Now on a standard contract with the Hawks, Dante will provide depth behind presumed starting center Kristaps Porzingis and reserve big man Onyeka Okongwu. Rookie Asa Newell and third-year man Mouhamed Gueye will also be competing for minutes down low. For Dante, it's a step in the right direction as he attempts to carve out a long NBA career after a successful college stint with the Ducks. Rockets vs. Trail Blazers, July 17: NBA summer league lineups, rosters, broadcast info

With two-way center N'Faly Dante likely unavailable (ankle), the Rockets will face off against the Trail Blazers and rookie sensation Yang Hansen in Thursday's NBA summer-league action. After two consecutive off days, the Houston Rockets (0-3) will resume their schedule at the NBA's 2025 summer league when they play the Portland Trail Blazers (2-1) on Thursday night. Both teams are playing their fourth summer-league game at the Thomas & Mack Center and Pavilion in Las Vegas, with a fifth and final game to be added this weekend (opponents and times to be announced). The Rockets are still looking for their first win of summer league, and they're without second-year guard Reed Sheppard for the duration. But in Sheppard's absence, Kennedy Chandler and Adonis Arms showed promise in Monday's overtime loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Rookie big man Yang Hansen, a Chinese center drafted in the 2025 first round, is perhaps the main attraction on the Trail Blazers. The 7-foot-1, 260-pound big man is averaging 11.7 points (46.4% FG, 36.4% on 3-pointers), 4.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.0 blocks in 25.4 minutes per game. For Thursday, here's our look at broadcast details and potential lineups. When and How to Watch Potential Starting Lineups Houston Rockets (0-3) Portland Trail Blazers (2-1) Injury/Status Reports The NBA does not require official injury reports to be issued before summer league games. Per Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle, both Kevon Harris and N'Faly Dante have been dealing with ankle injuries, so it's probably unlikely for the Rockets to play them in games with limited stakes. Sheppard remains out for precautionary reasons (left calf soreness). Led by Reed Sheppard, Rockets announce roster for NBA's 2025 summer league

Headlined by the likes of Reed Sheppard and two-way players N'Faly Dante and Kevon Harris, Houston's roster for the NBA's 2025 summer league is out. On Monday, the Rockets announced their roster for the NBA's upcoming 2025 summer league in Las Vegas. Houston's first game is Friday night, July 10. As expected, the roster is headlined by second-year guard Reed Sheppard, who was drafted at No. 3 overall in the 2024 first round. In 2024, Sheppard earned All-Summer League First Team honors. Garrett Jackson, normally an assistant to Ime Udoka with the Rockets, will again serve as head coach for 2025 summer-league games. Under the annual format, each of the NBA's 30 teams plays at least five games in Las Vegas, with the first four coming between July 10 and July 17. After those games, the top-four team advance to participate in the playoffs, beginning with a semifinal doubleheader on Saturday, July 19. The two winning teams from the semifinal games will meet in the championship game on Sunday, July 20. The four playoff teams and their playoff seeds will be determined by winning percentage in each team's first four games, with tiebreaker criteria available here. The 26 teams not advancing to the four-team playoff will play a fifth game at some point between July 18 and July 20, with opponents and game times to be determined after game four. The Rockets' roster is as follows. More: 2025 NBA summer league schedule: Rockets learn July opponents, game times in Las Vegas

Rockets signing former Magic wing Kevon Harris to two-way contract

With a two-way contract slot available after not tendering a two-way qualifying offer to Jack McVeigh, the Houston Rockets are reportedly signing Kevon Harris to the open spot. 'Harris was G League Next Up Game MVP and signed a 10-day deal with the Atlanta Hawks last season,' said HoopsHype's Michael Scotto, who broke the news. 'He averaged 19.8 points and 7.1 rebounds in the G League.' Advertisement The two-way deal will allow Harris to go back and forth next season between the Rockets and Houston's NBA G League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Vipers. Harris is a 6-foot-5, 216-pound wing player who played in college at Stephen F. Austin. Known for his hustle and athleticism, Harris went undrafted in 2020 but worked his way into the NBA by the 2022-23 season. In 34 games with the Orlando Magic, he averaged 4.1 points (43.9% FG, 37.2% on 3-pointers) and 2.1 rebounds in 13.4 minutes. Now 28 years old, Harris has played in the G League during at least a portion of all five years since his college career ended. During that time, he has steadily improved as a shooter, as evidenced by his 40.2% clip from 3-point range last season on 5.8 attempts per game. Over Harris' first two G League seasons (2020-21 and 2021-22), he shot approximately 34% from deep. In contrast to McVeigh, the Rockets did issue a two-way qualifying offer to center N'Faly Dante, and forward David Roddy is already on a two-way contract for 2025-26. So, as things stand, it appears Harris, Dante, and Roddy are in line for Houston's two-way roles.
