Steph named to All-NBA Second Team for 2024-25 season

Steph named to All-NBA Second Team for 2024-25 season originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area Warriors star Steph Curry just added another prestigious accolade to his already decorated resume. Curry earned All-NBA Second Team honors for the 2024-25 season after averaging 24.5 points, 6.0 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game in his 16th professional season. Curry is joined on the Second Team by longtime rival and Los Angeles Lakers icon LeBron James, Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards, New York Knicks offensive spark plug Jalen Brunson and Cleveland Cavaliers big man Evan Mobley, who took home 2024-25 NBA DPOY honors. Advertisement The honor is Curry's 11th career All-NBA selection, highlighting his incredible longevity as he remains one of the league's preeminent talents even at 37 years of age. Curry's focus remains on pursuing a fifth NBA championship, but the individual accolade is cause for celebration as the Warriors superstar continues to reinforce an already ironclad legacy that will see him go down among the greatest players to ever pick up a basketball. Jimmy Butler's Game 3 vs. Rockets status in ‘serious jeopardy,' per report

Jimmy Butler's Game 3 vs. Rockets status in 'serious jeopardy,' per report originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area Warriors forward Jimmy Butler avoided a major injury, but his status for Game 3 against the Houston Rockets is in question. Advertisement Butler sustained a deep glute muscle contusion and his availability for Saturday's game at Chase Center is in 'serious jeopardy,' ESPN's Shams Charania reported Thursday night, citing league sources. Charania reported that Butler's MRI revealed no pelvic fractures or structural damage. Before Charania reported about Butler's status, NBC Sports Bay Area's Tristi Rodriguez spoke to Stanford Medicine's Dr. Marc Safran, M.D., about when the 35-year-old might be able to return to the court. 'Totally a guess because we don't know the degree of damage, but my guess is, if it's nothing structural, if you will, it's just inflammation, it's really going to be about managing the pain and what he can play through and being able to play effectively through,' Dr. Safran said. 'He's a motivated guy that wants to get out and play, and so he'll come back as soon as it's absolutely possible without trying to put himself at greater risk. Advertisement 'So, fortunately, again, if it's not structural, which the MRI will tell us, then it's just really more a function of being able to manage the inflammation, manage the pain to be able to get him out there. 'So, is the next game completely out of the picture? No, it's not. But most people, because of where this is, it can take a week to two or three to actually get back. But I think they're going to do obviously everything in their power to reduce inflammation, get him back to doing what he wants to get out and do.' Butler sustained the injury late in the first quarter of the Warriors' Game 2 loss to the Rockets and was ruled out midway through the second quarter with a pelvis contusion. Though it seems Butler will miss Saturday's pivotal swing game, his agent, Bernie Lee, texted ESPN's Marc J. Spears with a cryptic message. Advertisement 'There is some hope, though,' Spears shared Thursday on ESPN's 'NBA Today.' 'Bernie Lee, Jimmy Butler's agent, texted me saying, 'Pray for the bear.' That tells me that's some optimism for Jimmy.' If Butler misses Saturday's game, the Warriors have to hope that it's a one-game absence and he's able to return for Monday's Game 4. Steph Curry hilariously corrects Charles Barkley's Jimmy Butler description

Steph Curry hilariously corrects Charles Barkley's Jimmy Butler description originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area Warriors star Steph Curry made sure TNT analyst Charles Barkley properly respects Jimmy Butler's talent. Advertisement Following the Warriors' thrilling 95-85 Game 1 win over the Houston Rockets on Sunday at Toyota Center, Barkley asked Curry a question about Butler's role with the team, to which the two-time NBA MVP had a quick rebuttal. 'Obviously, he's a heck of a player,' Barkley said. 'He's giving you the ability to rest more. He's not as great as you but he's a really nice second closer to have on the team, correct?' 'Jimmy's nice. Don't get that twisted,' Curry retorted. 'He's carried teams to the Finals. The idea of what he brings to us is another guy who is just comfortable with the ball in his hands to create for himself and others, no matter what the situation is. You saw plenty times, he kind of made something out of nothing. He is a legitimate ballhandler, where we can give it to him in space, on the post, at the elbow, wherever and teams have to respect him. So if I can space and give him room and keep the defense honest, that helps. And we've had a really good chemistry since he's been here.' While the Warriors essentially have been playing playoff games for the last few weeks, they got their first official glimpse of Playoff Jimmy on Sunday night. Advertisement Butler scored 25 points on 10-of-19 shooting while adding seven rebounds, six assists and five steals, complementing Curry's 31 points. Curry and the Warriors know they added another true No. 1 superstar in Butler, even if Barkley doesn't want to admit it. Download and follow the Dubs Talk Podcast

Arenas admits watching Steph's 50-burger over son's All-American game

Arenas admits watching Steph's 50-burger over son's All-American game originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area Warriors superstar Steph Curry's 50-burger caught everyone's attention on Tuesday night. Advertisement One admirer was retried three-time NBA All-Star and former Golden State guard Gilbert Arenas. He spent his evening watching his son and USC commit Alijah play in the 2025 McDonald's All-American Game at Barclays Center, but admitted his mind partially was elsewhere. 'I'm here at [2025 McDonald's All-American Game] watching, everybody's here, but (inaudible) all that,' Arenas said in a video shared to his X account. 'Steph. Fifty-two. Fifty-two, eight and 10. Oh my God. Unreal. Ugh. I'm out here watching high school basketball; I know it's the top 24, but they're not Steph. They're not out here being Steph – I mean, maybe combined. But 52 … congratulations, man.' Who can blame Arenas? Advertisement For the All-American game's West squad, Alijah finished with a formidable 11 points on 4-for-9 shooting from the field; but, sorry kid, you played on the same night as Curry. In the Warriors' 134-125 win over the Memphis Grizzlies at FedExForum, the four-time NBA champion finished with 52 points – on 16-of-31 shooting from the field, 12 of 20 on 3-point shots and 8 of 8 on free throws – with 10 rebounds, eight assists, five steals and one block. Arenas couldn't help but monitor Curry's night. He also begged Golden State's No. 30 to throw on the Los Angeles Lakers' purple and gold, in what would be a universe Dub Nation, among others, couldn't fathom. 'Listen, come on to the Lake Show so I can put you [as the] all-time GOAT,' Arenas pleaded. 'I'll put you in front of [Michael] Jordan for sure. For sure. Just put that Lakers jersey on … please. But congratulations, sir. Amazing.' Advertisement Don't fret, though; Arenas made sure his son was recognized and was up front and center in supporting him at the All-American game and on his social media accounts. Why Draymond advised Kuminga to ‘embrace' GP2-type of role

Why Draymond advised Kuminga to 'embrace' GP2-type of role originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area Warriors forward Draymond Green offered teammate Jonathan Kuminga stern advice about how to approach his ever-changing role in the relatively newfound absence of Gary Payton II (thumb). Advertisement Here's what the four-time NBA champion had to say on Friday's edition of the 'Draymond Green Show' podcast with co-host and ex-Golden State guard Baron Davis: 'I think there's been so much chatter about JK and what he needs to do and how he needs to find his lane and this, that and other,' Green prefaced to Davis. 'What I will say with GP being out is, if I'm Jonathan Kuminga, forget what everybody's talking about, forget what everybody's saying, I'm saying, 'GP, I want to guard the best guard when I come in the game. I want to be the point-of-attack defender. I'm [going to] hawk this guard. I'm going to change the momentum of the game. I'm going to embrace that.'' Green wants the 6-foot-8, 210-pound Kuminga to use his frame and two-way potential to emerge as the lockdown defender the Warriors need with Payton out for a lengthy period. Advertisement That will be a tough – but feasible – task for Kuminga. Before partially tearing a left thumb ligament against the Miami Heat, Payton was a Swiss Army Knife in coach Steve Kerr's rotation. Over 58 games, Payton averaged 6.6 points, 3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game on 58.5 percent shooting from the field with 2.6 steals and 0.8 blocks per 100 possessions. Conversely, Kuminga is known for his scoring and has averaged a career-high 16.3 points per game on a career-low 45.3 percent shooting during the 2024-25 NBA season. 'Because we know [Kuminga] can score, right, like we know what he is capable of on the offensive end,' Green told Davis. 'Imagine him embracing [Payton's] role and saying, 'I'm guarding the best [player]. I'm picking up [from full court]. I'm going to work myself to exhaustion because I'm going to defend so hard.' Advertisement 'That's how you win championships. And so, if I'm Jonathan Kuminga, that's my mindset. And I think he's more than capable of being that and doing that. And if he does, golly – changes everything.' There always is plenty of chatter surrounding Kuminga's game, potential and role. So, Green publicly advised Kuminga to ignore everyone and focus on stepping up in Payton's absence, which is something totally up the four-year wing's alley. After all, Payton likely will miss Golden State's final 10 games of the regular season. Download and follow the Dubs Talk Podcast
