NBE Club sign winger Shalaby from Zamalek in swap deal - Egyptian Football

Egyptian Premier League side NBE Club have signed winger Mostafa Shalaby from Zamalek in a swap deal that will see midfielder Ahmed Rabie move in the opposite direction. As part of the agreement, NBE also acquired right back Sayed Abdallah from Zamalek, while the Cairo giants will gain the services of Rabie ahead of the new season. The 30-year-old joined Zamalek from Enppi in October 2022 but he failed to impress during his three seasons at the club. He made 102 appearances, scoring 15 goals and providing 15 assists. During his spell at Zamalek, Shalaby helped the team win the CAF Confederation Cup, the CAF Super Cup, and the Egyptian Cup. Modern Sport sign former Zamalek goalkeeper Abou Gabal - Egyptian Football

Egyptian Premier League side Modern Sport have announced the signing of former Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Abou Gabal on a free transfer, following the expiration of his contract with NBE Club this summer. Abou Gabal joined NBE Club in September 2022 after a move to Saudi side Al-Nassr fell through, completing a free transfer from Zamalek. The 36-year-old goalkeeper made just one appearance for NBE last season after recovering from knee ligament surgery. The former Enppi and Smouha shot-stopper gained widespread recognition for his instrumental role in Egypt's run to the final of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. He stepped in for Ahly's injured Mohamed El-Shennawy, and his performances helped the Pharaohs reach the final, where they were narrowly defeated by Senegal in a penalty shootout. Abou Gabal, who is affectionately known as "Gabaski," also featured for Egypt in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations as El-Shennawy's replacement. After starting his professional career with Enppi in 2010, Abou Gabal went on to become Zamalek's first-choice goalkeeper, following his standout performances at the 2021 AFCON. Modern Sport narrowly avoided relegation last season after the Egyptian Pro League decided to cancel relegation for the current campaign. The Cairo-based club also appointed Magdy Abdel-Atty as their new head coach for the upcoming season. Palestinian Abou Ali seals Ahly win over NBE to maintain Egyptian League lead - Egyptian Football

Palestinian forward Wessam Abou Ali scored a stoppage-time winner as Ahly edged NBE Club 2-1 on Saturday to retain their lead in the Egyptian Premier League Playoff stage. Ahly remain top of the table with 55 points, two ahead of second-placed Pyramids FC, who defeated Petrojet 2-0 also on Saturday. Midfielder Emam Ashour opened the scoring in the 21st minute with a powerful strike from outside the area, moving him to the top of the league's scoring chart with 12 goals. Togolese striker Yaw Annor levelled for NBE Club just before halftime, dribbling past defenders in the box before calmly slotting home. Abou Ali, who came on at the start of the second half in place of Nejc Gradisar, netted the decisive goal in the sixth minute of added time, converting from close range after a well-placed assist by defender Yasser Ibrahim. Ahly coach Emad El-Nahhas also introduced Amr El-Sulaya, Mohamed 'Afsha' Magdi and Hussein El-Shahat in the second half to revitalise his side. El-Sulaya came close with a powerful long-range effort that forced a save from NBE goalkeeper Abdel Aziz El Balouti. Both teams had limited chances in the second half, with possession evenly shared, but Ahly's late push proved enough to secure the three points. Ahly will face Pharco FC on Wednesday, 28 May, in the final round of the Playoff stage, where they could celebrate the league title. Preview: Leaders Ahly look to avoid slip-up against NBE Club, Pyramids seek to stay in title race - Egyptian Football

Defending champions Ahly will look to maintain their winning momentum when they face NBE Club in the seventh round of the Egyptian Premier League Playoff stage at Cairo International Stadium on Saturday. The Red Devils are determined to avoid any slip-ups in the final stretch of their quest for a historic 45th league title, with just two matches remaining in the season. Ahly enter the clash atop the league standings with 52 points, holding a two-point advantage over second-placed Pyramids FC, while NBE Club sit fourth with 37 points and have a game in hand. The titleholders have been in formidable form during the playoff stage, securing four consecutive victories under interim coach Emad El-Nahhas, who took charge following the departure of Swiss tactician Marcel Koller after their CAF Champions League elimination. Before this winning streak, Ahly were held to a 1-1 draw by title rivals Pyramids FC, which came on the heels of a controversial 3-0 forfeit loss to archrivals Zamalek in March. The club initially faced a potential points deduction for withdrawing from the Cairo derby over disputes with match officials, but received a significant boost on Thursday when the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) appeals committee upheld the decision not to impose further sanctions. El-Nahhas's side will be without several key players due to injury, including Moroccan left-back Yahia Attiyat Allah, Karim El-Debes, Reda Slim, Rami Rabiaa, and Omar Kamal, with Palestinian striker Wessam Abou Ali remains a doubt after sustaining an ankle injury in training. However, defenders Achraf Dari and Mohamed Hani could return after their recovery. Meanwhile, NBE Club coach Tarek Mostafa will aim to build on his team's recent resurgence, including a commanding 4-2 victory over Pyramids FC in the fifth round, as they seek to solidify their position in the upper echelons of the table. Pyramids FC face Petrojet in must-win clash Title challengers Pyramids FC will meet Petrojet at Cairo's Petrosport Stadium on the same day, in what is considered a must-win game if they want to stay in the title race. Petrojet, currently eighth with 26 points, are expected to pose a stern challenge despite their mid-table position. Pyramids fc will be boosted by the return of winger Ramadan Sobhi and midfielder Mohanad Lasheen, both of whom missed their narrow 1-0 win over Zamalek in the previous round.
