Singareni CMD sets a new record in tree plantation
Kothagudem: Planting over 20,000 saplings, setting a national record and gaining international recognition through Viswaguru World Records, Singareni CMD N Balram has displayed his commitment towards the environment cause. On Tuesday, a felicitation ceremony was held at Singareni Bhavan to honour Balram's achievement. On the day, he planted 225 saplings near the GK Open Cast Mine in Kothagudem Area, an event that was witnessed by representatives from Viswaguru World Records who certified his record as a global accomplishment for a civil servant. Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), along with union leaders, officials, and employees, expressed pride in this accomplishment. Speaking at the ceremony, Balram reflected on his lifelong passion for planting trees. Originally planning to green just two acres, he was inspired by Singareni's environmental initiatives to extend his efforts company-wide. He expressed joy that his early plantations have matured into thriving mini forests that nurture local ecology. State Ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Konda Surekha, and Seethakka congratulated Balram via social media, calling his achievement an example of environmental leadership and urging others to follow his lead. His journey began on June 5, 2019 when Balram planted the first batch of saplings at Kothagudem. Since then, his green mission has blossomed into a widespread environmental movement across Singareni's coal belt, with saplings now flourishing at 56 locations across 12 areas, forming 35 mini forests that attract birds and wildlife. Balram uses geo-tagging to monitor each plantation site daily, ensuring a survival rate of 90% by replacing any dead saplings. Notably, he planted 1,251 saplings on September 15, 2019, at Ramagundam-3 Opencast Mine, a feat recognized by the High Range Book of World Records. His plantations span SCCL's operational areas and beyond, including his native village, Durg Colony in Adilabad, a park in New Delhi, Odisha's Naini coal block, and even Australia.

Delay in solar plant construction will lead to contract cancellation
Kothagudem: Singareni CMD N Balram has warned that solar plant constructions taken up by Singareni under the directions of the government must be completed within the contractually stipulated timelines, failing which the contracts of agencies will be cancelled, and they will be blacklisted. On Thursday, at Singareni Bhavan, Hyderabad, he held a review with officials and concerned contractors on the delays in solar plant construction. The construction of the 54.5 MW solar plants pending under Phase 1 and the construction process of the 67.5 MW capacity solar plants pending under Phase 2 were reviewed on the day. Balram expressed dissatisfaction with the construction agencies causing delays without completing the works within the specified timeframe. He remarked that it is unfortunate that despite Singareni ensuring timely bill payments, the construction agencies are failing to complete their works on time. He instructed them to complete the assigned works quickly by October, making it clear that no further extensions would be given. He also ordered that the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) being set up alongside the 28 MW solar plant at Mandamarri must be completed by August. Under the Central Government's Surya Ghar Yojana scheme, he specified that all works related to the construction of 32.75 MW rooftop plants on various Singareni buildings must be completed by the end of December.

Singareni sets national benchmark in implementation of Accident Insurance scheme
Hyderabad, June 7 (UNI) As part of employee welfare initiatives and in accordance with the directions of the Telangana government, state-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has implemented a Rs one crore accident insurance scheme, which has now become a model for the entire country, said company Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) N Balram. The CMD noted that the late Mool Chand had a corporate salary account with State Bank of India, making him eligible for the Rs one crore insurance benefits. He explained that Singareni is the first government organization in the country to partner with banks and implement an accident insurance scheme with coverage of up to Rs 1.25 crore—a move that provides strong financial support to families of employees who lose their lives in accidents. He further mentioned that this accident insurance scheme being implemented in Singareni has now been adopted by states such as Assam, Uttar Pradesh and even Coal India Limited. The revolutionary initiative in the insurance sector, he added, was made possible due to the proactive efforts of the state government and the forward-thinking leadership of Singareni. Unexpected accidents can financially devastate a family and to address this, Singareni has arranged accident insurance coverage for all employees holding salary accounts in collaboration with banks. Additionally, he mentioned that similar accident insurance coverage of up to Rs 40 lakhs is also being provided to contract workers. UNI KNR SS
