UPSRTC to hire women conductors via job fairs

Lucknow: UPSRTC is in the process of hiring around 5,000 female candidates directly as contract conductors. While 1,800 positions have been filled under the contract, to fill the remaining 3,200 positions, the corporation is organising job fairs. For the contract, it is mandatory for female candidates to be members of the UP National Rural Livelihood Mission and UP Skill Development Mission or to possess an NCC B certificate, NSS certificate or state and presidential awards from the Scout Guide organisation. Transport minister Dayashankar Singh said the job fairs would be organised from July 15 to July 25 in various regions, including Noida, Agra, Moradabad, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Bareilly, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Meerut, Etawah, Hardoi, Devipatan, Azamgarh, Saharanpur, Jhansi, Kanpur, Chitrakoot Dham, Banda, and Prayagraj. Certificate verification will be conducted offline. Female candidates will be placed directly as contract conductors on the basis of marks scored in intermediate. Additionally, those with NCC B, NSS certificates or state and Presidential awards from the Scout Guide organisation will receive a 5% weightage on their intermediate scores. Female conductors will be paid at par with contract drivers/conductors and they will be appointed in their home districts. The Minister said that female candidates will receive training for the conductor position through the UP Skill Development Mission. In April, 1,800 female candidates were selected for the conductor position through job fairs, with 1,328 already appointed and the remaining undergoing training.
