2025 NCHSAA playoffs: Which Wilmington-area teams are still alive?
The high school sports spring postseason is reaching its final stages, leaving us with crucial playoff matchups from a handful of area teams. Laney baseball sprinted past Corinth Holders in Game 1 of the best-of-three NCHSAA regional championship series. The Bucs dropped Game 2 on the road and will host a winner-takes-all Game 3 in Wilmington on Saturday, May 24. Kings Mountain football standout William Vaughn has made a decision on his college destination. Vaughn announced Saturday his plan to attend Boston College via X, formerly Twitter. 'Extremely excited to announce my commitment to (Boston College footbal),' he said in a brief post, including a photo of Boston College hats, helmet and a jersey with his name and high school number (15). Several Eastern NC teams advance to fourth round in state baseball, softball playoffs
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — While some of the NCHSAA baseball and softball playoff teams had their games were postponed due to rain Tuesday night, May 13, 2025, others took to the fields. In 2A baseball, Southwest Edgecombe survived Seaforth, 4-3, to advance to the fourth round to take on the winner of East Carteret and Midway which will take place Wednesday night. In the 1A bracket, Pamlico County had its season end in a 3-2 loss to Voyager Academy. In the softball playoffs, in 3A play, South Central keeps its season going with a 3-0 shutout of South Brunswick. The Falcons will play Scotland County in the fourth round after the Scots defeated Cape Fear 5-2. To see all of the scores and keep up with the brackets, click here. Fayetteville's top girls basketball scorer tabbed with NCCA All-Star game honors
Thursday morning, the North Carolina Coaches Association released the 2025 East-West All-Star Girls Basketball Game rosters. The annual all-star game will be held on July 21 at the Swarm Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the boys' all-star game.
