PwC India expands presence with sixth office in Gurugram

PwC India, a subsidiary of the UK-based consulting multinational PwC, opened its sixth office in DLF Downtown 4, Gurugram. The expansion increases the firm's capacity in India's National Capital Region (NCR) to nearly 8,000 people, while nationally it employs 30,000 across 20 locations. The office will feature innovation hubs, client experience zones, and collaborative spaces, enhance service delivery and support the firm's multidisciplinary approach to solving complex problems and creating disruptive value for its clients. 'The opening of our sixth office in the NCR region represents the continued demand for our services and the trust of our clients. As a people business, our offices are always centred around our clients and employees.", Sanjeev Krishan, chairperson of PwC India, said. "The contemporary workplace design and bold interiors that are aligned with our refreshed brand identity will support balance, collaboration, and innovation, giving our people what they need to thrive and bring their best every day, and our clients the experience they expect.' He added: 'The NCR offers a vibrant professional ecosystem that aligns perfectly with PwC India's ambitious growth and innovation objectives. By expanding in the dynamic hub of Gurugram, we are making a long-term investment in our promising future—one that will help us grow and go further by continually attracting the best talent from this region.' PwC India is also planning further expansion of its operational footprint, with two new offices slated to open in Mumbai in 2025. The move reflects the firm's ongoing efforts to strengthen its presence in the country's financial hub, offering flexibility to employees to work out of their preferred office locations in the city and better serve clients across the country. Govt clears Rpr-Durg metro rail project

Raipur: The Chhattisgarh govt cleared the path for a Raipur-to-Durg metro rail project, setting the tone for the creation of a State Capital Region (SCR), a planned urban cluster modelled after the National Capital Region (NCR). Tired of too many ads? go ad free now To boost the urban belt of the state aimed at driving economic and infrastructure growth, the recently approved SCR included an ambitious metro corridor connecting Raipur, Nava Raipur Atal Nagar, and Durg-Bhilai. This improved transit, reduced congestion, and served over 50 lakh people expected to reside in the region by 2031. The state govt sanctioned Rs 5 crore in the 2024-25 budget for a feasibility survey of the project. Following recent legislative approval in the state cabinet, the SCR will be developed on the lines of Delhi's NCR, integrating urban development, transport, housing, education, and health services across key city clusters. State govt officials said the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) would steer this development. Chaired by chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the authority included key cabinet ministers, secretaries, MLAs, and local body representatives. A CEO functioned as the authority's member-secretary. The CRDA planned and regulated land use, infrastructure, investments, and environmental safeguards. It also had the power to levy a special infrastructure cess to fund metro and other capital projects. Annual budgets and implementation reports were submitted to the state govt. An executive committee comprising top planners, engineers, finance officials, and collectors from SCR districts guided execution on the ground. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now With enhanced connectivity and integrated governance, the SCR was expected to emerge as Chhattisgarh's new growth corridor—anchored by the Raipur-Durg metro and powered by a unified development vision. To support this vision, the state created a Capital Region Development Fund along with a Revolving Fund, with the power to levy special infrastructure cesses for metro and capital projects. The authority functioned as both planning and regulatory body, coordinating between govt and private sectors while presenting an annual budget and project roadmap to the state.

‘Rakshak' to safeguard rly staff from accidents on tracks

1 2 Prayagraj: To enhance safety of railway track workers, the Prayagraj Division of the North Central Railway (NCR) is set to introduce a device named 'Rakshak'-- an advanced approaching train warning system. "This innovative system aims to protect trackmen, keymen, patrolmen and other employees working on railway tracks from accidents caused by approaching trains. The system is especially effective in foggy conditions when visibility is low," said senior public relations officer of NCR, Amit Malviya. Malviya said it was observed that workers on the tracks often become deeply engrossed in their tasks, occasionally overlooking safety instructions issued by supervisors. This distraction sometimes led to tragic consequences when trains approached unexpectedly. To prevent the recurrence of such accidents, the railway administration is equipping track workers with the 'Rakshak' device. The initiative was first launched in the Agra Division of NCR. Malviya explained that 'Rakshak' is a Very High Frequency (VHF) based radio warning system directly linked to the railway's signal control system. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Gold Is Surging in 2025 — Smart Traders Are Already In IC Markets Learn More Undo This handheld walkie-talkie style device provides alerts through LED indicators, audible buzzers and vibrations, warning workers of incoming trains. This timely warning helps workers stay vigilant and take necessary precautions to avoid accidents. The device will soon be distributed among employees in the Prayagraj Division.
