More Sports Park in Los Angeles, California Los Angeles will erupt with Korean pop culture this August with the finalized KCON LA 2025 lineup now officially here. From global chart-toppers like Monsta X, NCT 127 and aespa to the breakthrough rookie stars like MEOVV and RIIZE as well as television phenomenons like Mnet's Stage Fighter winner Choi Hojung, the completed roster embodies the festival's primary mission to celebrate K-pop's past, present, and future to expand it even further into a global sensation this upcoming August 1-3. Building on KCON LA's first wave of acts, which includes a blend of veteran, rising, and J-pop acts, the second announcement confirms 22 artists as part of this year's festivities. Like most KCONs, fans can likely expect some surprises or special cameos through the weekend as well, coming to perform across stages, headline exclusive fan events, and participate in different activations all designed to forge deeper bonds between artists and fans. Under the theme of the 'KLOVER'S Club Fair,' inspired by the four-leaf clover's promise of luck and joy, KCON unfolds across four experiential 'leaves.' Each leaf functions like its own festival club to spotlight different facets of K-culture beyond music including Korean fashion, beauty, food and literature. KCON producer CJ ENM says it plans to deliver a more 'immersive' experience by expanding its on-site and digital experiences. KCON LA will feature multiple stages across its festival grounds — including the Artist Stage, MEET & Greet, X Stage and M COUNTDOWN stage — all giving fans the chance to see and connect directly with their favorite idols, with the X Stage focused specifically on highlighting emerging talent. See the full lineup below that includes additions like solo superstars like SHINee's KEY, MAMAMOO's Hwasa and YUQI of i-dle, boy bands NOWADAYS and RIIZE, as well as girl group KISS OF LIFE. KCON will release more details on ticket tiers, stage schedules, and convention programming in the coming months as KCON LA 2025 brings the 'KLOVER'S Club Fair' to life at the Arena and Los Angeles Convention Center this August 1-3. In other KCON news, CJ ENM also announced on May 12 that its KCON JAPAN festival, which was held from May 9 to 11, wrapped with surpassing two million on-site attendees since its inception in 2015. Moon Tae-il to attend first hearing over 'quasi-rape' case

Former NCT member Moon Tae-il, known mononymously as Taeil, will face his first court hearing on May 12 along with two others charged with "quasi-rape", reported South Korean news outlet allkpop. South Korean laws describe "quasi-rape" as engaging in sexual intercourse while the other person is unconscious or unable to resist. The Korea Times reported in March that Taeil was indicted without detention on charges of sexually assaulting an intoxicated woman with two acquaintances. The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office's Women and Children's Crime Investigation Division 1 indicted all three individuals in February. The court rejected the Seoul Bangbae Police Station's appeal for arrest warrants for Taeil and the other two suspects, revealing that they had admitted to the crime, which in turn reduced the need for detention. Two months after receiving the victim's reports, police then summoned the singer in August for questioning and forwarded the case to the prosecution in September. Taeil, however, did not show before the prosecutors, with his legal team providing medical documents and a statement from his attorney to validate his leave. Meanwhile, all suspects maintained that the crime was not premeditated. In August last year, the 30-year-old singer left his K-pop group following an unspecified sexual crime accusation, as per a statement released by SM Entertainment. The statement also assured the public that the singer was cooperating with the investigation. "While assessing the facts related to this matter, we recognised the severity of the issue and determined that he can no longer continue team activities," it said. "After discussing with Taeil, it's been decided that he will withdraw from the team We deeply apologise for the controversy caused by our artist." While SM Entertainment had announced Taeil's departure back then, his contract was formally terminated in October. "Taeil is now under investigation for a crime, which is cause for contract termination because our trust in him as an artist has been severely damaged. The termination came as the result of a mutual agreement," the company said. Taeil was a member of both the larger group and NCT's sub-unit NCT 127, which released its sixth studio album Walk in July. After suffering from a motorcycle accident in August 2023, he went on a hiatus to undergo surgery and focus on recovering, which limited his activities with the group. The company notified, "As he still needs sufficient treatment and stability, Taeil will not be able to participate in NCT 127's third tour NEO CITY – THE UNITY scheduled for November. We ask for fans' generous understanding."

NCT Mark's solo album well received by global media

The first solo set from Mark of NCT has earned rave reviews from international media. Undoubtedly one of the busiest among K-pop idols, stretched across NCT, NCT Dream and NCT 127 as well as Super M, 'NCT's splintered backbone paints himself whole,' with EP 'The Firstfruit,' wrote NME magazine, adding, 'After fracturing himself into pieces for nearly a decade, Mark has crafted something of an autobiographical marvel.' 'In its totality, the 13-track album is a clear window into the mind of one of the genre's brightest (and arguably most earnest) stars,' said The Hollywood Reporter, lauding how the musician 'gets vulnerable and open like he never has before.' The autobiographical set topped iTunes albums charts in 14 regions when it came out last week. Main track '1999' debuted atop a number of music charts at home as well.
