No rail service between San Diego and Oceanside this weekend
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — All passenger and freight trains will be out of service between San Diego and Oceanside this weekend, the North County Transit District announced Monday.
On Saturday and Sunday, coastal rail service between San Diego and Oceanside will be suspended for routine railroad maintenance and infrastructure work. It applies to services operated by the NCTD COASTER, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner and BNSF Railway.

In addition, Metrolink arrivals and departures from the Oceanside Transit Center will also be suspended during this period.
The projects being done this weekend are the following:
Batiquitos Lagoon Double Track – Northern Encinitas to southern Carlsbad (during the daytime)
Del Mar Bluffs Stabilization Phase 5 (24 hours)
Track maintenance – southern Solana Beach (during the daytime)
Track maintenance – Miramar area of San Diego (24 hours)
Track maintenance – Ash Street, downtown San Diego (night work may be possible)
The NCTD said although there will be no passenger or freight trains running to and from Oceanside, people should be mindful of test trains, construction vehicles and equipment that will be operating near the railroad and on the tracks.

Travelers are also encouraged to plan ahead and find other commute options, including the BREEZE Route 101 or San Diego Metropolitan Transit System trolley and bus connections, the district said.
All services will return to normal Monday, Feb. 24.
