Trump Praises The Saudi Crown Prince, Highlights Economic Progress at Investment Forum

President Donald Trump used a speech at the U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum on Tuesday—initially billed as a major foreign policy address—to focus largely on domestic accomplishments and to deliver glowing praise for Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. President Trump commended the Crown Prince for his leadership and friendship. 'He's your greatest representative. And if I didn't like him, I'd be out of here so fast—you know that. He knows me well. I like him a lot. Maybe too much. That's why we give so much—too much. I like you too much,' Trump said during his remarks in Saudi Arabia. The speech marked a stark contrast to the Biden administration's previous stance on Saudi Arabia. Trump, however, praised both the Crown Prince and Saudi Arabia's economic strides. 'For everyone in this room, the days of economic hardship under the last administration are giving way to what may become the greatest economy in world history,' he declared. Addressing Saudi royals and global business leaders, Trump credited MBS with transforming the nation's capital. 'Riyadh is becoming more than just a seat of government—it's emerging as a global center for business, culture, and technology,' Trump said. He concluded with a rhetorical nod to the Prince's ambitions: 'Mohammed, do you sleep at night? How do you sleep?' Trump asked, as the audience applauded. 'Critics once doubted what was possible, but over the past eight years, Saudi Arabia has proven them completely wrong.' Saudi Crown Prince: 1,300 U.S. Firms Drive Nearly 25% of Foreign Investment

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced an increase in new Saudi investments in the United States to $1 trillion, up from the previously announced $600 billion. In his speech at the Saudi-U.S. Investment Forum, attended by U.S. President Donald Trump, Prince Mohammed bin Salman stated: 'Today, we are working on partnership opportunities worth $600 billion, including agreements exceeding $300 billion that were announced during this forum. In the coming months, we will work on the second phase to complete the remaining agreements and raise the total to $1 trillion.' He considered that 'this growing partnership reflects the continued cooperation between the two countries across various sectors — military, security, economic, and technological — enhancing mutual benefits, supporting job creation in the Kingdom, contributing to local industry localization and content development, and fostering GDP growth.' Strategic Partnership Between Riyadh, Washington President Donald Trump arrived in Saudi Arabia today at the start of a Gulf tour, marking his first official foreign visit since taking office in January. He held a summit with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at Al-Yamamah Palace, where they welcomed officials and business leaders from both nations. Numerous agreements were signed, most notably the Strategic Partnership Document, along with unprecedented deals in defense, energy, technology, artificial intelligence, and other sectors. The Crown Prince noted that 1,300 American companies are currently operating and investing in Saudi Arabia, accounting for approximately 25% of total foreign investment in the Saudi market. Of these, 200 companies have chosen Riyadh as their regional headquarters. Vision 2030 He highlighted that Vision 2030 has successfully achieved most of its goals, driving an unprecedented transformation in economic diversification and empowering the private sector to become a key engine of growth in the region's largest economy. Additionally, he pointed out that non-oil exports reached $82 billion in 2024, and more than 2.4 million citizens have been employed since the launch of the Vision. Prince Mohammed bin Salman added in his speech that Saudi Arabia is the largest economy in the region and the United States' biggest economic partner in the Middle East. He also noted that the strength of economic relations between the two nations has led to $500 billion in trade exchange between 2013 and 2024. He also spoke about Saudi investments in the U.S., stating that the American market is a 'key destination for investments by the Public Investment Fund (PIF),' which holds about 40% of its global investments in the United States. NCUSAR Vice President: U.S. Visit Underscores Saudi Arabia's Global Significance

Patrick Mancino, Executive Vice President of the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations (NCUSAR), praised U.S. President Donald J. Trump for selecting Saudi Arabia as the first destination of his second presidential term. He stated that this decision reflects a strong acknowledgment of the Kingdom's strategic importance on both regional and global levels. In remarks to the Saudi Press Agency, Mancino noted that beginning the president's foreign tour in Saudi Arabia signals Washington's recognition of the Kingdom's central role. He emphasized that Saudi Arabia is not only the spiritual heart of the Islamic world—home to the two holy mosques—but also a major political and economic force in the Middle East and across the broader Islamic world. Mancino also pointed to Saudi Vision 2030 as a transformative national strategy led by the Kingdom's leadership. He described it as a bold blueprint for progress, driving forward innovation and development across education, the economy, and the non-profit sector. Looking ahead, the NCUSAR vice president expressed optimism about the future of U.S.-Saudi relations. He said the enduring partnership between the two nations is poised to reach new heights and contribute to a lasting legacy of cooperation and mutual achievement.
