Expedite work of Sahjanwa–Dohrighat rail line project: DC
Gorakhpur: Divisional commissioner Anil Dhingra on Friday reviewed the progress of the Sahjanwa–Dohrighat new rail line project. In a meeting with officials of the North Eastern Railway (NER), the Commissioner discussed in detail the challenges being faced in implementing the project. Expressing displeasure over delays in land acquisition in villages under Sahjanwa, Bansgaon and Gola tehsils, he directed the concerned SDMs to coordinate with railway officials at the earliest, obtain village-wise land records for their respective areas, and expedite the acquisition process. He also instructed them to submit a progress report within a fortnight. The railway officials were further asked to provide a list of villages falling within the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) area that are covered under the project. Officials said the project will boost the region's development and open up a new route from Gorakhpur to Varanasi and Prayagraj. Scindia urges NE states to update logistics policies

Rly helpline sees 100% complaint resolution in Varanasi division
Varanasi: Indian Railways continues to prioritise not only the convenience of travel but also the timely resolution of passenger concerns. In line with this commitment, the Varanasi division of North Eastern Railway (NER) has reported 100% resolution of complaints registered through the railway helpline number 139 during the previous financial year. According to Ashok Kumar, spokesperson of Varanasi NER, all complaints and assistance requests received in the current financial year have also been successfully addressed. The helpline number 139 serves as a central platform for passengers to report issues or submit suggestions related to cleanliness, catering, ticketing, schedules, station facilities, and other travel-related services. The 139 helpline is integrated with the Rail Madad portal and is accessible via both calls and SMS in multiple Indian languages, including Hindi and English. This allows passengers to receive assistance in their preferred language, making the service more inclusive. Beyond complaint registration, passengers can also access real-time information regarding PNR status, train schedules, delays, cancellations, refund processes, and onboard medical assistance. H.E. Bin Touq briefs Palestinian side on UAE's leading legislative and regulatory framework to combat money laundering H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, met with H.E. Yahya Shunnar, Governor of the Palestine Monetary Authority and Chairman of the National Committee for Anti-Money Laundering, to explore new avenues for enhancing economic and development cooperation, particularly in the area of financial crime prevention systems. The meeting was also attended by H.E. Safia Al Safi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Commercial Control and Governance Sector at the Ministry. During the meeting, both sides reviewed the latest global developments in combating financial crimes and discussed the growing risks that money laundering poses to economic stability and the integrity of financial systems. H.E. Bin Touq highlighted the UAE's pioneering efforts in this area, sharing insights into the country's continuous work to enhance and modernize its legislative and regulatory frameworks. He emphasized that these reforms have played a critical role in bolstering compliance with international laws and standards across the UAE's markets. H.E. Bin Touq emphasized that boosting UAE-Palestine cooperation across economic and developmental domains is a key priority guided by the vision of the UAE's wise leadership. He said: 'The UAE has built a globally recognized and leading model for combating financial crime. Our consistent efforts have bolstered the UAE's global standing as a safe, stable, and competitive economy. As a result, the country has been removed from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list, and more recently, from the European Parliament's list of high-risk third countries for money laundering and terrorism financing.' He reiterated the Ministry's readiness to share the UAE's expertise to support the efforts of the Palestinian Authority in this critical field. The meeting also reviewed the Ministry's progress in developing the National Economic Register (NER), which now stands as the UAE's largest digital platform for unified and verified commercial license data. The register integrates requirements related to Ultimate Beneficial Ownership (UBO) in line with international standards, and enhances oversight of Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs), including real estate brokers and agents, dealers in precious metals, independent accountants and auditors, and corporate service providers. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation and aligning efforts in sharing global best practices for regulatory and supervisory frameworks to combat money laundering. They further emphasized the importance of specialized training programs aimed at developing skilled human capital capable of proactively detecting and addressing evolving financial crime patterns – an essential step in safeguarding financial integrity and reinforcing confidence in both countries' economic systems.

New rail line, gauge conversion to boost links in Terai region
Gorakhpur: In a move to strengthen rail connectivity in Himalayan foothills, ministry of railways has approved final location survey (FLS) for a new 120-km rail line between Bhira Kheri and Raiboja. Additionally, gauge conversion surveys have been cleared for the 16-km Mailani-Bhira Kheri and 13-km Nanpara-Raiboja sections, CPRO, NER, Pankaj Kumar Singh informed. Once completed, the project will enable broad gauge connectivity from Mailani to Nanpara, integrating regional with national broad gauge network and bringing remote areas of Bahraich and Kheri districts into the mainstream of development, he said. With an approved cost of Rs 3.58 crore, the survey aims to prepare a detailed project report alongside the FLS. Notably, new line between Bhira Kheri and Raiboja was planned outside the Dudhwa National Park to minimise ecological impact, he said. The CPRO said the broad gauge line will offer a strategic alternative route connecting Delhi.
