HB Publications nets 27 awards at regional convention

FAIRFIELD, Texas – Herald-Banner Publications, which publishes the (Greenville) Herald-Banner, the Rockwall County Herald-Banner and the Royse City Herald-Banner earned a total of 27 awards during the 99th annual North and East Texas Press Association convention that wrapped up on Saturday. Among the 27 awards were five first-place honors. Editor Kent Miller took first in column writing for both the Rockwall Herald-Banner in the large weekly division and the (Greenville) Herald-Banner in the large semi- and tri-weekly division. Miller also claimed top honors for the second year in a row in page design for Rockwall and the advertising staff placed first for Rockwall. The (Greenville) Herald-Banner also won for Special Section for its summer Greenville Life magazine. The NETPA Better Newspaper Contest consists of work published in 2024. Other recognition for the (Greenville) Herald-Banner and staff included second place editorial writing, Miller; second place in headline writing, Warren Morrison; second place in page design, Morrison; second place in sports coverage, David Claybourn, third place in advertising; third place in feature photo; Laurie White King; third place in news writing, Miller; and third place in sports writing, Claybourn. The (Greenville) Herald-Banner also placed third in General Excellence and third in the Sweepstakes standings. The Rockwall County Herald-Banner was second in headline writing, Miller; second in sports photography, King; third in editorial writing, Miller; third in sports coverage, Miller, King and Claybourn; and fourth in news writing, Miller. Rockwall placed fourth in General Excellence and finished fourth in the Sweepstakes standings. Royse City was second in sports writing, Claybourn; fourth in editorial writing, Miller; fourth in feature story, Travis Hairgrove; and second in sports writing, Claybourn. Royse City placed second in General Excellence.
