Top 5 Must-Watch MLB Games This Week (July 7–13, 2025)

Baseball season enters a critical week as teams try to get momentum before the All-Star break. From divisional showdowns to interleague rivalries and the All-Star Futures Game featuring tomorrow's stars, here are five MLB games to watch this week: Dodgers at Brewers — July 7 Credit: Mark Hoffman / Milwaukee Journal Sentinel / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images This Monday, the Dodgers will travel to Milwaukee to play a major series with the Brewers, and the two teams are battling it out to get to the playoffs. The Dodgers are in the lead in the NL, and at home, the Brewers are a solid and difficult team to beat throughout the season. With both teams looking at October, this one should have some extra edge. Advertisement Guardians at Astros — July 7 Credit: Ken Blaze-Imagn Images The Astros are rolling after a big weekend sweep of the Dodgers, including an 18–1 blowout that was L.A.'s worst home loss ever. Houston has won 30 of their last 41 games and is right back in the mix. The Guardians just got swept by the Tigers and are struggling to keep up in the AL Central. This one feels like a chance for Houston to keep the momentum going, and for Cleveland to stop the bleeding before the break. Their pitching has been sharp and the lineup is clicking. The Rays are in the Wild Card hunt but need a big win here to stay in it. With Tampa likely to start Shane Baz and Detroit playing well at home, this one should be close and competitive, definitely one to watch. It's the only opportunity to see upcoming stars, such as Gage Jump and George Lombard Jr. compete on a national stage. This year's rosters include young talent from Detroit, Oakland and other rebuilding franchises. Mets at Yankees — July 11–13 Credit: Wendell Cruz-Imagn Images The Subway Series starts this weekend at Yankee Stadium as the Mets visit the Yankees for three games. The June 4 opener in Queens ended in a 6–5 Mets win with Jeff McNeil's go‑ahead two‑run homer in the 7th, backed by early power from Juan Soto and Jasson Domínguez. McNeil also made a big play in the 9th. That win snapped a losing streak and set the stage for these intense games to come. Clark missed most of the 2025 WNBA season because of a quadriceps injury, with only four games played thus far. Since her injury, the Fever are 2-3 and hold a 4-5 record, tied for seventh in the standings. Clark hasn't played since May 24. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Clark was named an All-Star, a member of the All-Rookie Team and the All-WNBA First Team, the WNBA Rookie of the Year and led the league in assists (337). Brewers Fans React to Brandon Woodruff News on Monday

Brewers Fans React to Brandon Woodruff News on Monday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Milwaukee Brewers fans are eager for the return of the team's longest-tenured active player, Brandon Woodruff, who has not pitched since the 2023 season. Advertisement Currently riding a four-game win streak with a 43-35 record, the Brewers rank as the NL Central's second-best team, trailing the Chicago Cubs by just 3.5 games. Their pitching staff has been particularly impressive this June, posting the fourth-best ERA in baseball at 3.36—even without Woodruff's contributions Woodruff underwent surgery in the fall of 2023 to repair an anterior capsule tear in his right shoulder—a procedure that sidelined him for the entirety of the 2024 season. Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff (53)© Dave Kallmann / Milwaukee Journal Sentinel / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Although he had been steadily working his way back from the surgery performed in October 2023, his recovery was hampered by setbacks. In mid-May, during one of his rehab assignments, Woodruff suffered ankle tendinitis, and more recently, a bruised elbow followed after being hit by a line drive during a rehab start on June 3. Advertisement Woodruff completed a 60-pitch simulated game today—a key milestone in his recovery process—and is scheduled for another rehab session where he is expected to throw about 80 pitches before a hopeful return to the major league level. Brewers fans responded to the update on Woodruff's return with mixed reactions. "I need Woodruff back on the major league mound more than I need oxygen," said an excited Brewers fan. Another asked, "Who gets bumped from the rotation?" "Who would be the odd man out?" a fan added. "What was his velo?" another questioned. "Could mean the first start he makes back in the big leagues would be in Miami, which is where he made his final start back in 2023, 650 days apart," said one fan. Advertisement Woodruff, a two-time All-Star, demonstrated his pitching talents during the 2023 campaign, where he recorded a 2.28 ERA in 11 starts over 67 innings, posting a 5-1 record with 74 strikeouts before having season-ending shoulder surgery. Jeju Air plane damaged in botched landing at Vietnam airport, no injuries

The tires on the plane's landing gear were damaged after it veered off course while landing at Vietnam's Da Nang International Airport. PHOTO: REUTERS SEOUL - Jeju Air, under public scrutiny after the deadly crash of Flight 2216 that killed 179 in late 2024 , had another scare recently when one of its planes experienced minor difficulties while landing at Da Nang International Airport in Vietnam, according to local news reports on May 29 . Jeju Air Flight 2217 from Incheon veered off course for a moment while landing at the airport in Vietnam at around 12.50am (1.50am, Singapore time) on May 28 . The aircraft carrying 183 passengers immediately returned to course and no one was injured, but the tires on the landing gear were damaged in the process. The airline replaced the tires in Da Nang and deployed a replacement plane of the same type — Boeing 737-800 — for the return flight. The return flight took off at 4.08pm the same day from Da Nang International Airport, 14 hours and 38 minutes later than the initially scheduled time. Jeju Air's fleet mostly comprises Boeing 737-800 planes, which was also the model of the ill-fated Flight 2216. Officials of South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport are conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident. Jeju Air, one of the leading budget carriers in Korea, suffered a major blow when Flight 2216 belly-landed at Muan International Airport in South Jeolla Province on Dec 29, 2024. The plane overshot the runway and crashed into a berm encasing a concrete structure, leading to an explosion that killed all of those onboard except two crew members in the back. The Transportation Ministry has confirmed a bird strike on at least one of the engines, but the exact details of the accident remain under probe. Historic College Football Program Surprisingly Low in Rankings After Landing Star QB

The Georgia Bulldogs landed a huge victory on the recruiting trail with the recommitment of five-star quarterback Jared Curtis. But according to ESPN, the Bulldogs still have a lot of work to do. On Wednesday, ESPN ranked Georgia's 2026 recruiting class at No. 15 in the country. Advertisement "The Bulldogs have been a consistent staple among the top three overall classes during Kirby Smart's tenure and look to be a contender to do so again in 2026," ESPN's Craig Haubert wrote. "A big step toward finishing near the top again is bringing five-star quarterback Curtis back into the mix. After a decommitment, the Bulldogs were able to fend off other suitors, most notably Oregon, and give themselves a potential impact QB for the future. "Curtis might need to adjust to a relatively steep jump in competition level, but he has elite physical tools, including a smooth, quick release and the ability to change arm angles." Georgia Bulldogs football head coach Kirby Smart.© Joshua L. Jones / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images In addition to Curtis, the Bulldogs have emphasized offensive playmakers in the 2026 class. Advertisement "With three of their top four pass catchers from 2024 having moved on and the fourth likely to leave after this season, Georgia is bringing in new receiving targets with speed," Haubert added. "Vance Spafford out of California won the fastest-man competition last summer at the UA Future 50 event and in-state prospect Brady Marchese has been recorded hitting over 22 mph in game play." On Tuesday, On3's Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong predicted the Bulldogs to land five-star tight ends Mark Bowman and Kaiden Prothro. Getting both Bowman and Prothro would give the Georgia offense two more offensive playmakers for next year's class. It would also boost the Bulldogs 2026 recruiting ranking. Based on the 247 Sports composite rankings, Georgia has the 12th-best 2026 recruiting class. The Bulldogs hold that ranking despite only nine commitments. Advertisement Landing Curtis didn't vault Georgia's 2026 class into the top 10. But it might not take too many more elite prospects for the Bulldogs to make a significant jump up the rankings.
