A member of the NFL Hall of Fame stopped in Erie for a good cause. Erie native, Fred Biletnikoff, stopped at Bullfrog Bar on Saturday during his return trip to Erie this weekend to sign autographs and raise funds for community programs. Annual picnic held to thank first responders during National EMS Week Fans of the Super Bowl MVP could pay for a picture or autograph, knowing all proceeds would be donated to the Biletnikoff Foundation and the Boys and Girls Club of Erie. 'It feels good because of the fact we're doing it for kids, you know? The effort everyone is putting in today and what we did a couple of years ago, all the effort is just for the kids to kind of make them, to give them something better. Get a smile on their face and let them know somebody cares about them,' said Biletnikoff. This past Thursday, Biletnikoff received the key to the City of Erie. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Gotcha! NYPD drones spot subway surfer and man at crime scene, but privacy an issue
One video shows a man riding a subway car; another a man collecting shell cases on a rooftop. Both videos, recorded by an NYPD drone, demonstrate they can be a boon to law enforcement. police say. 'The NYPD's use of drones as a strategic, emergency response saves lives on our subway system and streets,' the department said in a statement, 'allows for an immediate deployment to dangerous situations, and, ultimately, protects everyday New Yorkers. Critics of the emerging technology, though, have been less than enthusiastic, calling drones more of a novelty than a way to improve public safety. They worry that the department does not care enough about the privacy concerns that have been publicly raised. Albert Fox Cahn, who heads the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (STOP), acknowledged drones can be effective in certain situations — such as water rescues. But he said there are already enough cameras to record subway surfers and that taxpayer money should be spent on other measures. 'Drones can respond to tragedies but they can't keep us safe,' Cahn said. 'Drones are gimmicks. Gimmicks can pay off on occasion but it's not a smart way to invest our tax dollars when you're talking about something that is helpful just sometimes and is ripe for abuse.' The NYPD last month announced it was stepping up its use of drones with a five precinct pilot program in which the electronic devices would be sent out, along with patrol officers, on certain 911 calls, with the department noting a drone can often get to a scene before officers in a police cruiser. The department also said that drones this year have helped nab 31 subway surfers through April. In a video obtained by the Daily News, a drone on the afternoon of April 2 spotted Isaiah Thompson, 29, as he rode outside the last car on the J train in Williamsburg. The drone zooms in on Thompson, who does not appear to realize he is being watched. The video later shows him crossing the tracks at the Hewes St. station. When he gets to the other side of the tracks a plainclothes officer leads him onto the platform, where he is arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and trespass. Thompson's case is pending; his lawyer did not respond to request for comment. In the other video, an NYPD drone on the evening of April 12 was dispatched to a ShotSpotter alert in the Bronx, by E. 18th St. near Marion Ave., police said. With officers on patrol not yet on scene, the drone zooms in on Lawrence Taylor, 23, atop an apartment building roof, pacing back and forth and picking items up off the ground. The video shows Taylor a short time later leaving the building and, as he is about to cross the street, put his arms up at the sight of a police cruiser that is now on scene. Officers are seen getting out, moving Taylor to the ground and arresting him. Taylor, no relation to the NFL Hall of Fame linebacker, was charged with tampering with evidence — eight 9mm shell casings he had hid in his right shoe, according to a court criminal complaint. Police said any shell casings that are recovered are analyzed to see if they can be linked to any other shootings. Cary (cq) London, Taylor's lawyer, predicted the case would be dismissed, saying 'there was no attempt to tamper or conceal evidence.' London also said that while technology 'can be a helpful tooli n public safety we must ensure it doesn't come at the expense of privacy rights or lead to over-policing in communities already subject to disproportionate surveillance.' The NYPD said it is aware of such concerns and that it 'has worked with good government groups to address privacy concerns and looks forward to our continued collaboration in keeping our city safe.' Last May, the NYPD inspector general in a report said the police department was still not fully compliant with the terms of the Public Oversight of Surveillance Technology (POST) Act. The NYPD said that two months ago it accepted all 10 of the recommendation made by monitor so that it could comply with the POST Act.

Deion Sanders Heads To Netflix For New Docuseries
Source: Andrew Wevers / Getty From an NFL Hall of Fame career to broadcasting, to reality TV, to his current role as coach of the University of Buffalo, Deion Sanders has lived his life on camera. He will do so again for a new docuseries heading to Netflix. This latest show will be called Prime Time, not to be confused with his Prime Video show, Coach Prime, which aired on Amazon Prime for three seasons. 'It means so much to finally be able to tell my unfiltered story, my truth. I was Prime Time, then I dropped the time and went by Prime, and now I'm in the third quarter of my life and they call me Coach Prime,' Sanders said. 'Y'all knew a part of me each step of the way, but you never knew Deion… and I'm excited to share that with you all – the highs and lows, the truths and tragedies, and everything in between. They can't stop or contain what God has purposed.' Sanders, 57, has been coaching the University of Colorado for three seasons, taking the team to relevance after the one-win season it had in the year before his arrival. His sons Shadeur and Shilo Sanders played for him throughout their collegiate careers at Jackson State and then at Colorado. This year, observers were surprised as Shedeur, the FBS's most accurate quarterback, dropped to the fifth round in the NFL draft. Shedeur was ultimately chosen by the Cleveland Browns with the 144th pick. He joins a crowded quarterback room including Joe Flacco, the injured Deshaun Watson and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel. Prime Time is in production now, but it's unclear whether or not the draft drama will be included in the new doc. Until it airs in 2026, you can follow the Sanders clan on his son Deion Jr.'s YouTube channel, Well Off Media which has chronicled the family's football journey. Shilo, Shadeur and Deion's oldest daughter Deiondra also have YouTube platforms. Last year, Deiondra welcomed a son, Snow, with the singer Jacquees, making Sanders a grandfather for the first time. Expect to see cameos from all of the above and Sanders' youngest child, daughter Shelomi. WATCH: Ohio State football players debate which state produces most football talent
WATCH: Ohio State football players debate which state produces most football talent It's an age old debate. Which state produces the most football talent? It's not an easy question to answer because the change in demographics and population in this country has changed significantly over the last few decades. Yes, Ohio has historically been a football hotbed. I mean, there's a reason the NFL Hall of Fame is in the Buckeye state, right? As the population of this country has moved south and west, however, is Ohio still the football state it used to be? Has Texas, Florida, and California -- even Georgia and Louisiana -- surpassed Ohio in high school talent? Obviously, it's hard to take the bias out of question like this, and doing it on the campus of THE Ohio State will probably get you different answers than, say, Florida State, but the OSU football creative team decided to put that debate out there in the universe, or at least in the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Watch as current Ohio State football players walk by the question of which state produces the most football talent and how they respond. The answers vary from Ohio to Florida, to California, to even South Dakota and Wisconsin (you can probably guess who raised that false flag). Look, I'd love to say Ohio is king here, but it's simply not true anymore. Florida is the right answer, followed closely I'd say, by Texas and California. More people equals more people playing football. It's simple, right? Tell me I'm wrong and back it up. The event will be held at the Sheraton Refuge Hotel and Conference Center in Flowood, beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17. Jake Morton named Alcorn State's new basketball coach Brazile was signed as a tight end but was switched during his freshman year to linebacker, a position he would excel in the rest of his football career, both in college and the professional ranks. The four years he played at JSU, the Tigers compiled a record of 30-10-1 and won back-to-back SWAC championships in 1972 and 1973. Brazile capped a memorable collegiate career by being selected sixth overall in the first round of the 1975 NFL Draft. His college roommate, Walter Payton, was picked fourth in the first round of the 1975 NFL Draft. They became the only teammates on a Mississippi college or HBCU team to be drafted among the top 10 picks in the history of the NFL Draft. Three players off the 1974 Jackson State team, including Brazile, are now in the NFL Hall of Fame. The other two are Payton and Jackie Slater. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox.
