MC names Isaac Fontenot-Amedee as the new men's head basketball coach
MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Midland College has named Isaac Fontenot-Amedee as the next head men's basketball coach. Amedee formerly served as the assistant head coach under Tra Arnold for the last two seasons. In the 2024 season, Arnold had to step away to deal with some health issues, and Amedee was named the interim head coach. As the interim, he led the Chaps to a 21-10 record, a trip to the NJCAA Region V Tournament, and a No. 18 national ranking in the final NJCAA Division I poll. Amedee is very experienced in the WJCAC, formerly serving as the head coach at Clarendon for five years. There, he led the Bulldogs to their winningest season in program history (29-3) and highest national ranking (No. 3) en route to a WJCAC Championship and NJCAA National Tournament berth in 2020, before COVID-19 canceled the tournament. After the great run, Coach Amedee was named Coach of the Year by the WJCAC, the Region V Coach of the Year and the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Junior College Coach of the Year. Tomorrow, a press conference will be held at Midland College to introduce Amedee as the next head coach of the MC men's basketball team. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
