NSA Ajit Doval to not attend Moscow security meet: Sources
New Delhi [India], May 26 (ANI): National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval will not participate in the 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues, scheduled to be held in Russia's capital, Moscow, from May 27 to 29, according to sources. Sources said that NSA Ajit Doval was scheduled to attend the 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues to be held in Moscow, Russia, on 27-29 May 2025. 'He is, however, unable to participate in the meeting due to indisposition with a seasonal flu,' they said. They added that NSA Doval looks forward to bilateral engagement with Russia on strategic and security matters at an early date. Last week, sources had said Ajit Doval was expected to visit Russia this week. During his visit to St Petersburg last year for the BRICS National Security Advisers' meeting, Doval met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and exchanged a handshake. In a statement released on Telegram, the Russian Embassy in India had said that during his meeting with NSA Doval, President Putin praised the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia and emphasised the crucial role of security issues in bilateral relations. 'During the conversation, Vladimir Putin noted the successful development of the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia and stressed the importance of security issues in bilateral relations, thanking the Indian side for maintaining dialogue in this area,' the statement said. During the visit, Doval also had a bilateral meeting with Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, on the sidelines of the BRICS NSAs meeting in St Petersburg. In the statement released on Telegram, the Russian Embassy in India called New Delhi one of Moscow's like-minded partners in the world. During the meeting, attention was particularly paid to the multi-level trust-based political dialogue between Russia and India. 'New Delhi is one of Moscow's main like-minded partners in the world arena, whose friendship has confidently stood the test of time. Our countries are jointly grappling with the challenges of the 21st century, -- underscored Sergey Shoigu. At the meeting, a wide range of issues of mutual interest were discussed,' the Russian Embassy in India said in a statement shared on Telegram. 'Particular attention was paid to the multi-level trust-based political dialogue between Russia and India, built on regular contacts between the leaders. The Secretary of Russia's Security Council separately noted the significance of the bilateral summit held in July,' it added. (ANI)

'No reference': Government sources reject Donald Trump's claim that trade used as deterrent for India, Pakistan
NEW DELHI: The central government rejected US President Donald Trump's mediation claims between India and Pakistan saying that there was "no reference to trade" during talks with US officials. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "India rebuts the United States' claim. After Operation Sindoor commenced, US Vice President JD Vance spoke to PM Modi on 9th May. US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio spoke to EAM Dr S Jaishankar on 8th May and 10th May and to NSA Doval on 10th May. There was no reference to trade in any of these discussions," ANI reported citing sources. Trump had claimed that he warned both nations that the States would suspend trade ties if they did not halt their military operations against each other, suggesting his intervention helped push for de-escalation. "I said. Come on, we're going to do a lot of trade with you guys. Let's stop it, let's stop it. If you stop it, we're doing trade. If you don't stop it, we're not going to do any trade. People have never really used trade the way I used it. By that, I can tell you, and all of a sudden they said. I think we're gonna stop, and they have," he claimed. "We're going to do a lot of trade with Pakistan. We're going to do a lot of trade with India. We're negotiating with India right now. We're going to be soon negotiated with Pakistan," he said. Meanwhile, Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan held talks on Monday and agreed to continue the ceasefire and avoid initiating any "aggressive and inimical action against each other". "Talks between DGMOs (of India and Pakistan) were held at 5pm, May 12, 2025. Issues related to continuing the commitment that both sides must not fire a single shot or initiate any aggressive and inimical action against each other were discussed," ANI reported citing Indian Army. Big Action Against Pakistan Loading? PM Modi, NSA Doval's Key Meet Ahead Of Mock Drill Sparks Speculation
Amid tensions between India and Pakistan at the LoC following the Pahalgam terror attack, the latest meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was one of the day's biggest developments. PM Modi and Doval held a one-on-one discussion lasting approximately 40 minutes. The meeting at the Prime Minister's residence raised questions about whether this meeting could mark the final nod toward a potential military response. In today's episode of DNA, ZEE News elaborated and analysed the importance of the meeting and what its possible outcome is. It comes just before nationwide mock drills involving air raid sirens and shortly after an earlier meeting involving the Defence Secretary, PM Modi, and NSA Doval. The discussions, sources suggest, are part of ongoing deliberations in response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam. With nearly two weeks having passed since the attack, public pressure and political momentum for retaliatory action against Pakistan have been mounting. Pakistan, already rattled by the Indian Air Force's ongoing military drills, is reportedly unsettled by the series of high-level meetings in New Delhi. Today's Modi-Doval meeting is being viewed as a potential strategic checkpoint, possibly finalising preparations for a retaliatory operation. In this closed-door session, PM Modi is said to have reaffirmed the military's mandate to act freely against terror threats. NSA Doval will continue to oversee the strategic coordination and intelligence flow necessary for the success of any military operation. All major intelligence agencies are believed to be sharing critical inputs with the NSA, which is in turn refining operational readiness with the armed forces. Over the past 24 hours, PM Modi and NSA Doval have met twice. On Monday, Doval and Home Secretary Govind Mohan joined the Prime Minister for a separate review of national security preparedness. That same day, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh also met with PM Modi for a meeting lasting over 30 minutes. These back-to-back meetings indicate a flurry of high-level coordination ahead of an expected Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) session scheduled for tomorrow. As per protocol, any decision to initiate or halt military action is taken by the CCS. While the President serves as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, it is the Prime Minister who historically announces decisions related to war—just as in 1999, 1971, 1965, and 1962. With national sentiment intensifying and high-level consultations gaining pace, signs suggest that India may be inching closer to a decisive move.

India conveys concerns in ‘strongest terms' to Canada after pro-Khalistan rally in Toronto
India on Monday (May 5, 2025) conveyed its concerns in the 'strongest terms' to the Canadian High Commission after a rally in Toronto depicted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top Ministers of the Government of India in an objectionable manner. This was the first such communication from the Indian side since the new Prime Minister Mark Carney was elected a week ago. 'We have conveyed our concerns in the strongest terms to the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi regarding the parade held in Toronto where unacceptable imagery and threatening language were used against our leadership, and Indian citizens residing in Canada. We once again call on the Canadian authorities to act against anti-India elements who spread hatred and advocate extremism and separatist agenda,' said an official source after India expressed displeasure to Canada. Mr. Carney's victory was welcomed by the Government of India with Mr. Modi sending a congratulatory message to Ottawa saying: 'Congratulations @MarkJCarney on your election as the Prime Minister of Canada and to the Liberal Party on their victory. India and Canada are bound by shared democratic values, a steadfast commitment to the rule of law, and vibrant people-to-people ties. I look forward to working with you to strengthen our partnership and unlock greater opportunities for our people.' On Sunday, a large pro-Khalistan rally was taken out in Toronto that used terms like 'Kill India' and depicted several leading figures including PM Modi in a derogatory manner. The rally also raised slogans on religious lines and sought expulsion of Canadians of Indian origin. Subsequently, India on multiple occasions expressed displeasure with the Canadian authorities over growing pro-Khalistan activities in Canada. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had described the Trudeau government of playing 'vote bank' politics. On October 14, 2024, India withdrew its High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma from Ottawa as bilateral ties took a nosedive.
